Post subject: JARRE.CH updated
Gugus...

after a "short" break, I have made some more updates on my website. Now, I have begun to finish the last 3 **BIG** chapters: Bootlegs, Samplers and Cover Versions. So now you can find some updated 7Inches, CD singles and CDs in the Cover Versions section.

There are now 2865 Jarre (related) recordings and 6618 pictures in 60 different sections in the database..... enjoy :mryellow:

GeeJee - Mon Jan 15, 2007 1:51 am

Greeaat! :D
moviemaker - Mon Jan 15, 2007 2:02 am

I know the pleasure doing detailed things like that, trying to coplete something not much or anyone have done before.

CLUBMIX - Mon Jan 15, 2007 4:52 pm

yes, that's the main part I guess... being unique in some ways. But my first intention to do this website was (don't take this personally) only to help myself, not anyone else.... but it's fun that everyone enjoys what I am doing
Christophe - Mon Jan 15, 2007 9:53 pm

:D :D :D :D
CLUBMIX - Fri Jan 19, 2007 1:19 am

OK, as everyone is eagerly awaiting further news regarding JMJ's new single / album release, other threads tend to "disappear" in here :mryellow:. But here's the deal:

I AM DONE UPDATING MY WEBSITE!!!! There are now 2990 different items with 6906 pictures online. Means that the book has grown to 939 pages and 59 chapters. Some more figures: the biggest chapters have 100 (COVER VERSIONS) and 104 pages (BOOTLEGS).

So now I am ready to pick up anything related to the new album and single which will be published without any delay ;-)

Clubmix,

If I download the Excel file from your site, does it include all the new additions?

Thanks!

hehe.... thanks alot for the compliments.... personally, I like others more, but I thought to make something that fits the situation ;-)
CLUBMIX - Fri Feb 09, 2007 12:49 am

Updated again, not only some new items, but also added releasing years on the second front page, hyperlinked the section names (not only the images) and added a new section "Téo & Téa" (not yet linked)

Plus: hotlinked the category image in the UPDATES section, so you can jump directly into the respective section

Christophe - Fri Feb 09, 2007 10:58 am

well, to be honest, there's nothing to feel exited about right now... In fact, the image I used comes from all those sources who cannot guarantee that the artwork is either definite or genuine. So unless there's another artwork for the album, I am using the one that is visible.

And: as soon as the promo CD arrives here, I will update the site with the pictures and of course link the section from the "discography"-page

CLUBMIX - Sat Feb 10, 2007 9:22 pm

updated the site with the obvious stuff ;-)
GeeJee - Sun Feb 11, 2007 12:11 am

No pictures?? :)
CLUBMIX - Sun Feb 11, 2007 12:50 am

sure there are pictures.... at least some for the promo album and for the promo CD single
CLUBMIX - Fri Feb 16, 2007 11:14 am

Now there is also the picture of the 3Track CD promo of "Téa&Téo" online. I hope to get others soon. Oh, and btw: I have just bought a 1track CD promo (I guess the same as Doc Jones') and hope to have pictures as soon as possible....
Kanta - Fri Feb 16, 2007 11:22 am

Thanks Clubmix. :D
You must be the first one to own the 3 track CD promo that I've read about. How are you feeling?

CLUBMIX - Fri Feb 16, 2007 11:30 am

I feel god about it, not better than others though, but still :mryellow:

But I am not the first one of us to own it... remember: Ralf's friend also has it... I don't mind though

Sawyer - Fri Feb 16, 2007 11:35 am

Nice website Clubmix! I can see now what I still have to collect hehehe
CLUBMIX - Fri Feb 16, 2007 11:38 am

yeah, that's quite a lot then.... depends though what you already have.

Btw: I have been to that store where I suspected the "GOL" CD to be sold, but there isn't anything no more. So I have to go to the Media Maekt tomorrow to have a look. I will get back to you after that, OK?

Kanta - Fri Feb 16, 2007 11:39 am

I suppose I did not count Ralf's friend because he does not himself come on the forum and speak to us.
CLUBMIX - Fri Feb 16, 2007 11:40 am

ah OK... but still, I am not sure whether he's a forum member or not.....

another update: the Italian JB426 juke box promo of "Zig Zag" now with all the 4 images. Plus: moved this item from "EARLY WORK" to the 7Inches section of "SAMPLERS", since there is more than just one artist on that record (even if the main track is "Zig Zag")

@Christophe: Thanks for your Sony BMG pictures of the "Les Concerts En Chine" release. Will update them asap. Do you have a clue when this re-re-re-re-rerelease was published?

I think in 2004 or something! In that year changes "Sony Music" to "Sony BMG"! But maybe is this a later release of "Les Concerts En Chine"...

P.S. I bought that release some days ago in "Mediamarkt" in Antwerpen for the price of € 8,49. There are a lot of "Les Concerts en Chine" cd's of this "Sony BMG" release...

Updated the website with the regular CD release of "Téo & Téa" which was already available in Switzerland on March 22nd
moviemaker - Fri Mar 23, 2007 2:59 am

Hi ClubMix...Question: on your discography, is the Teo & Tea Promo with the sticker really considered a promo if it is actually just the regular release with a promo sticker?.. as opposed to saying PRO... or does it say Promo on the CD/DVD itself. Does this make sense? Ortherwise I thought it's like saying Teo & Tea with a HMV or Virgin sticker on it. Other than the promo sticker and insert what makes this one unique. I ask because I couldn't see the details on the image.

Also... CONGRATULATIONS :bravo: on getting the OFFICIAL NEW CD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :lift:

CLUBMIX - Fri Mar 23, 2007 8:51 am

the thing is that the promo stickered CD / DVD set wont exist as real promo, but "only" as promo stickered
GeeJee - Fri Mar 23, 2007 9:10 am

It's "just" the sticker in deed. I got another promo from the same source without the sticker...
moviemaker - Fri Mar 23, 2007 9:15 am

Now I understand... Thanks!
CLUBMIX - Fri Mar 23, 2007 9:16 am

Are you sure the 12" ATUK062T is stickered? Just like with the CDS ATUK062CD the 'sticker' is printed as part of the sleeve.

CLUBMIX - Wed Apr 18, 2007 9:28 pm

no, not completely sure, you're right... had to correct this today when my CD single arrived... but unless holding the 12Inch in my hands, I let it be this way.....

Thx though for the input

The artwork is the same and the reference number is even the same! It just says Koch and I think they are actually made in Canada...cheap. That's why I don't collect those. I can find at my local record store Ameoba for cheap.

GeeJee - Mon May 07, 2007 11:03 am

Well, there are some 'old' remasters (I think 1992 ones) which did have different artwork on the back. I mean, the Koch/Canada ones.

GeeJee wrote:

No, I have seen all those here in the store and they were just the Sony remastered artwork. Blah! I mean the artwork is cool but the remasters were not that great and a big KROTCH...I mean KOCH ( ) written on the back.

Ugly.

Printed in Canada just does not go with Jean Michel Jarre (or printed in USA for that matter). As they say on that cartoon..."everything is better in Fraaaance!' uhh..except cars.

At least the singles from Oxygene 7-13 were different here in the US. We had like 7 mixes on one CD for both Oxygene 8 and Oxygene 10 but that's it and those were on the Epic label--no KROTCHES involved or harmed in any way.... :mrred:

CLUBMIX - Mon May 07, 2007 2:07 pm

 hold on, dudes, the pictures I was talking about referring to Christophe's post are not from any US / Canadian release: only the "Sony BMG" logo appears on the back sleeve and the CD itself. It is, as far as I know, a true European (re)release of that "Magnetic Fields" CD.

Secondly: the "Oxygène 8" CD single release from the US back in 1997 has 7 tracks, and not, like Ramesh says, 6 tracks (which is true for the US "Oxygène 10" CD singles release, though /picky mode off)

I have never heard of that before.

I have also heard about that, that's why I have included it into the "EARLY WORK" section, but in italics.....

Hey Oliver...about the Teo & Tea Acetate, the one pictured isn't numbered whereas the one sold by Radyiophonic (sp?) on eBay is numbered (they have the number covered) and has a warning or something about reproduction and copying (similar to the Aero Promo). So I guess the question is the one pictured on your site an official promo...it's so hard to tell on eBaY what's real and what's not...everyone says their's is genuine :?:

CLUBMIX - Tue May 29, 2007 3:52 am

all of them seem to be genuine.....

3 "Equinoxe" updates and 4 "Oxygène" updates
moviemaker - Sat Jun 16, 2007 7:23 am

Hi Oliver,

Don't hate me but I have a small suggestion:

Is it possible on your website that when you choose an album just to bring up the choice of CD, LP, CDs, 12", etc. WITHOUT loading all the LP relases on the same page. I find, at least with my browser it takes a long time to load all those images and chokes my system.

for instance, if I'm interested in looking for a CD release, I first have to wait for all the LP images to load before switching to CDs. I could immediately choose CD but sometimes it freezes a bit because it wants to load all the images on that page. I guess this idea means to just add one more layer of navigation at the album level. I Hope that makes sense.

You know I think your website is the best Jarre website in the whole world...this is just a small suggestion, if you care.

:peacemaan:

GeeJee - Sat Jun 16, 2007 10:30 am

Ramesh - you need to check the settings of your browser, it's something with your cache. Cause my browser has kept all those images in its cache and as soon as I visit the site again, it doesn't have to load 'em again... ;)
moviemaker - Sat Jun 16, 2007 10:39 am

Yes, I regularly clean out my cache..or rather when I run something like DiskWarrior, Cocktail, etc. it cleans out the cache.

It is actually good to clean out the cache especially to load new pages. The bug with Safari is if you don't clean out the cache it doesn't refresh with the new page if that page has changed.

Even worse is the Space Of Freedom forum! I get kicked off after something like 10-minutes. It never remembers my log-in and password either! This happens everytime...even when I don't clean the cache and during the same session. This happens regardless of browser.

GeeJee - Sat Jun 16, 2007 10:47 am

So you need to make a choice between Jarre CH and SoF... :pwned:
moviemaker - Sat Jun 16, 2007 10:48 am

What do you think....
GeeJee - Sat Jun 16, 2007 10:59 am

So what's the problem then? :punch:

Btw - I think you should be able to change the settings so that not all of the cache gets wiped out...

Jarp2600 - Sat Jun 16, 2007 1:29 pm

And eeh, what about a search-function? :P
GeeJee - Sat Jun 16, 2007 1:31 pm

Dude. That site is html... it's no database...
Turning it into a database will involve a looot of PHP or XML programming...

Jarp2600 - Sat Jun 16, 2007 1:34 pm

GeeJee wrote:

That's why the " :P " was added :P .

GeeJee - Sat Jun 16, 2007 1:51 pm

yeah, that's what I would say :P
moviemaker - Sat Jun 16, 2007 5:04 pm

[edited out American slang before someone faints!] Forget I said anything then... :wtf2:
moviemaker - Sat Jun 16, 2007 5:39 pm

That's a saying here...not even bad language....Just ask the Coen Brothers...you Europeans! :P

Seriously, I would program it for him if I knew how...I used to know a little scripting language but it's been so long.

Here is a great search engine: Jarrography

Maybe it could eventually become part of the Zoolook/BlahBlahCafe site like Nico's Database!

Sorry Oliver, we're talking about your site but it's YOUR site, fini!

GeeJee - Sat Jun 16, 2007 5:54 pm

Getting it to work like that - will cost hours, if not weeks or months to program...
Nico_Noyau - Sat Jun 16, 2007 7:39 pm

You can use both websites, that's what I do, but Jarrography is not updated ;)
GeeJee - Sat Jun 16, 2007 8:08 pm

I never use Jarrography. Not anymore...
moviemaker - Sat Jun 16, 2007 9:55 pm

Me neither.

Also that would defeat the purpose of what I'm saying. I don't want to visit two websites! I was just seeing if there was a way to simplify the navigation on one site or having a search function but if too complicated then never mind!

GeeJee - Sat Jun 16, 2007 10:16 pm

It's not impossible and it's surely an interesting challenge for anyone who's into database programming, but I'm almost sure Oliver is not up to the job.. and neither am I...
Nico_Noyau - Sat Jun 16, 2007 10:25 pm

And maybe he doesn't have the time to re-enter all the entries one by one :P
moviemaker - Sat Jun 16, 2007 11:45 pm

No prob.

I guess I thought Jarre.ch was a sort of SQL-type of database.

Actually I really like the interface of Jarrography but Nico is right, not only is it not updated regularly, it does not have close to the detail of images and information that Oliver's site has. Oliver's site is so good I wish we could help to make it perfect and I didn't realize that the Jarrography search function was so complicated or that everything would have to be redone from scratch on Jarre.ch.

Nico what is your degree in? hahahaha :punch:

Nico_Noyau - Sat Jun 16, 2007 11:54 pm

You mean, can I use databases and PHP ? :P
Not ATM, but I'm gonna enter next year to a school where I'll learn how to do all that :P

Finaero - Sun Aug 12, 2007 3:40 pm

Wait, Magnetic Fields reissue 2004?

So new Jarre CD's actually were pressed that year? Yet I'm assuming they're the 1997 remasters with only "(c)2004,1997,1981" or something added to the back cover...

CLUBMIX - Sun Aug 12, 2007 5:41 pm

I think you might be right.... I am honest, I cannot see anything "2004"-ish anywhere. I received the pictures for all those Sony BMG reissues from Christophe, maybe he can clarify.

I also read somewhere that there would be reissues from 2004.....

Do you think the title should be OXYGENE 2007 & COMPLETE OXYGENE 2007 and of course 2007 again on the left side instead of just 'Oxygene' and 'Complete Oxygene'?

The Promo CD looks cool but can't seem to make out the track listing. Where did you get it--lucky collector you!

Superb job Oliver--As usual! :bravo:

CLUBMIX - Wed Nov 07, 2007 10:19 am

Yes, you're rigt, but as i didn't have the graphics handy, I just used the "old" ones, just to quickly create the sections. Will change that later.

If you look closely, there's a link in the "Complete Oxygene" thread in the "Albums" section of the forum which is pointing to a more hires image of the tracklist (which is the one already posted somewhere).

Plus: I didn't get that promo CD release, "only" the picture

Héhé, thanks a lot ! :D
If possible, I'd prefer to put www.nicolaskern.free.fr as my website, as I'll take a link to jmj.free.fr on nk.free.fr :P

Send him/her an email? :pwned:

Dr_Jones - Wed Nov 14, 2007 12:13 pm

He probably contacted you again, am I right?
CLUBMIX - Wed Nov 14, 2007 3:13 pm

@Gert - I've sent a mail, but it bounced back: "undeliverable"

@Doc Jones - no, he / she didn't send another mail since last time.... do you know who it is?

Dr_Jones - Wed Nov 14, 2007 3:15 pm

It's fedorw, not fedor.
GeeJee - Wed Nov 14, 2007 6:25 pm

It's mister F. Gmail, I guess :P

updated the website with the obvious stuff: "Oxygene 2007" --> 2 promos and the regular CD release
moviemaker - Sat Nov 24, 2007 5:14 am

Just checked it out--GREAT work Clubmix! Especially like that White EMI promo CD/DVD. And like that it now says Complete Oxygene 2007 and Oxygene 2007
CLUBMIX - Sat Nov 24, 2007 2:03 pm

updated last night's update with some more pictures (thanks Dr. Jones): CD / 2D DVD version added (complete) plus CD / 3D DVD (only front cover)

Great...so I'm still confused what is the difference between the CD/2D DVD & the CD/3D DVD besides the 3-D :?:

Dr_Jones - Sat Nov 24, 2007 5:18 pm

We'll know soon enough.

So what is the difference between the CD / 2D DVD & the stand-alone CD ( I know you mentioned an extra picture of the organ)... :?:

Dr_Jones - Sat Nov 24, 2007 5:33 pm

The CD itself seems equal, apart from the obvious different catalog number. The booklet of the CD + DVD has an extra page with details about the artists performing at the concert, which replaces the organ photo page. The back of the CD only case has the tracklist of the CD and a copy of the text in the cd booklet. The back of the CD/DVD case has the tracklist of the DVD on it too (no surprise there) and where it was recorded.

Both CDs have the opendisc program on it.

Excellent Dr. Jones! Thank you!

I personally don't fancy the latter, as that's in fact not the title of the album. Imho complete oxygene can be listed under the 97 release.

CLUBMIX - Tue Nov 27, 2007 5:52 am

I don't really like it either, but I have been playing around with "Oxygene (New Master Recording)" which is written as the title, but a) it won't fit into the title bar on the website, and b) the title is different for each one of these new "Oxygène" releases, if you look at what's written on the front cover.

Anyway: I will *maybe* change it to "Oxygène (New Master Recording)" and "Complete Oxygène", but will not merge the latter one with the 1998 (!) release, as it is a completely different one: the older package featuring (crappy) "Oxygen In Moscow" track, the new one features a "bonus" CD.... We have 3 different "Essential" releases as well as more than one release with identical tracklists but different titles-....

Dr_Jones - Tue Nov 27, 2007 7:39 am

Complete Oxygene was released on 24 Nov 1997.
CLUBMIX - Tue Nov 27, 2007 7:45 am

of course it was released in 1997... my fault :hombre:
Finaero - Tue Nov 27, 2007 8:51 am

Besides, what's wrong with Oxygene 3D? :P
moviemaker - Tue Nov 27, 2007 8:59 am

Finaero wrote:
Besides, what's wrong with Oxygene 3D? :P

I think Finaero has a good point: Oxygene 3D is pretty cool and you're right Complete Oxygene ***SHOULD NOT*** Complete Oxygene 97 -- they are two totally separate releases with NO relation whatsoever!

CLUBMIX - Tue Nov 27, 2007 9:07 am

the only relation the '97 release and the '07 release of "Complete Oxygene" have is that they not only share the same title, but also are the same sh*t, album-wise. The third CD included in the '07 package "only" has some mixes that were on CD singles from the "Oxygene 7-13" album.

Oh well, everybody has a point here, I guess I will have to gather some opinions first before making up my mind regarding "correct" titling of these new releases

Finaero - Tue Nov 27, 2007 9:09 am

Oxygene 7-13+1 also has an extra track and was released one year later but you've still included it in the 7-13 section :P

It also has extremely lousy artwork when compared to the actual release ;)

CLUBMIX - Tue Nov 27, 2007 9:13 am

yeah, d'accord with the artwork.... but the Japanese "Oxygene 7-13+1" was included in the obvious section because it belongs there as it was released under the same flag in Japan as the regular album.... as a "special edition" or something
Finaero - Tue Nov 27, 2007 9:17 am

Yeah, but fundamentally the new Complete Oxygene isn't that different from the 1997 release IMO. But hey, it's your choice.
GeeJee - Tue Nov 27, 2007 12:07 pm

I'm with Finaero here.

Besides, to make it a little clearer, I think you should drop the years on the left... that way Complete Oxygene doesn't particularly mean the 1997 one.

As for Oxygene, the title is Oxygene... I would even consider adding that to the '77 section, and the CD+DVD in the concert DVDs section... seriously.

Dr_Jones - Tue Nov 27, 2007 12:39 pm

I'm wondering if I have to put the new Oxygene next to the old ones or next to T&T...
Kanta - Tue Nov 27, 2007 1:03 pm

When I receive it, I will put Oxygene 3D after Téo & Téa. As I have everything in date of order release. :P
Nico_Noyau - Tue Nov 27, 2007 3:11 pm

That's what I'm gonna do too, in chronological order :P
CLUBMIX - Tue Nov 27, 2007 6:44 pm

as said before, everybody has a point here, but the strongest one seems to be the chronological one. I guess to make it look a bit more impressive for first time visitors (or those who want to explore Jarre's music), I'll keep it the way it is right now, maybe with some minor adaptions (considering all of your points).

Of course, suggestions are always welcome

Jakob BC - Tue Nov 27, 2007 7:22 pm

I would always put The new Oxygene after T&T. It's different from the original album. Perhaps not soundwise but it's not just another remaster to me.
AnDrOiD - Tue Nov 27, 2007 8:48 pm

It's not a 100% re-recording. One example; Oxygene Part 3: @2:21 in the original and @2:12 in the new version, the exact same "click" sound, at the exact same spot.
GeeJee - Tue Nov 27, 2007 9:46 pm

2:21 and 2:12 are two different spots to me :P
AnDrOiD - Tue Nov 27, 2007 11:19 pm

Probably cos you got the remaster of the original? :P
CLUBMIX - Wed Nov 28, 2007 7:24 am

updated the site with the usual suspect, the "The Complete Oxygene". Funny that the reference number of the "Re-Oxygene" promo CD is "FDMJMJ1107" whereas the ref number of the regular "Re-Oxygene" CD is "Special Bonus FDMJMJ1007"
GeeJee - Fri Nov 30, 2007 1:01 am

Is that the reference? :roll2: Them silly dreyfusians...!
CLUBMIX - Fri Nov 30, 2007 6:34 pm

yeah, they sure are

well then. Updated the site again with the 3D DVD release as well as the whole lot "French Stickered"

CLUBMIX - Sat Dec 01, 2007 10:54 am

some more updates: Swedish and Norwegian "Equinoxe 5" 7Inch, the Angolan "Zig Zag" and the French promo stamped 7Inch of "Zig Zag Dance", the Canadian Triangle LP "Viens Avec Nous" and the Christophe 3CD box "La Dolce Vita" (did you see that the ref number FDM46050 36886-2 is just one number smaller than the ref number of "The Complete Oxygene" which has FDM46050 36887-2"?)

Plus: what's today's date? :hombre: :smoke:

These might be interesting:

They're from a promo tape I got from the director. It has the film The Last Shot/Le Dernier Plan, which features Jean Michel Jarre as an actor.

Kanta - Mon Dec 17, 2007 5:43 pm

I wouldn’t mind seeing the clip where JMJ is featured as an actor in the film. Is his part very long and is there a possibility of putting it on You Tube? Thanks in advance.

Bootleg, right?

Oliver, I just looked at the pix and that one listed is a bootleg because I got the exact same one off of eBay with the same cover before I got the original (didn't think I would find an original copy at the time).
+ I joined the Bang & Olufsen forum and confirmed it was a bootleg after I received it.

Also, why isn't it listed like the other albums. I would consider it an album just like Geometry Of Love (which was another comissioned work) or Deserted Palace (Soundscape type of Album). Def. more so than the Latest Dreyfus Essential or the subpar Oxygene Thru O2 you have listed there. Just an opinion of course :punch:

new March 2009 splash screen. For the first time in the www.jarre.ch history, it's not a design made by myself, thanks to jeanbatman, the winner of February 2009's competition on www.zoolook.nl.

I've just noticed some mismatches on the box sets section, it says this:

10th anniversary has been released in 1989
L'integrale in 1991
Les Années Laser in 1993

Which I think is not true, in the real deal:

10th anniversary -1987
Les Années Laser - 1989
L'integrale - 1991

Correct me if I'm wrong :?

Dr_Jones - Mon Aug 10, 2009 10:11 pm

L'Integrale was 1992, a year after Images.

You're correct, the presskit I have mentions September 1991 as release date.
