I haven´t seen any vampires in Prague yet but if they listen to the JMJ music I´ll probably meet them at the concert. Anyway it´s fantastic JMJ is doing concert here. :D

Finaero - Fri Jul 18, 2008 3:38 pm

Oh blast, no Finland... and for that matter, no Estonia either! :\

Not really willing to go to St. Petersburg either... :punch:

Jakob BC - Fri Jul 18, 2008 6:30 pm

Then you can just be happy that you went to Sweden, eventhough this might be different, besides the fact that it's impossible to get enough of this tour 8)
Finaero - Fri Jul 18, 2008 6:39 pm

Indeed... of course, with my luck this one's gonna have some neat non-Oxygene tracks or even just Oxygene 7 w/ laser harp :punch:
Jakob BC - Fri Jul 18, 2008 7:11 pm

Well he said thety tried to fit some of the Oxygene 7-13 tracks into the setlist, but Jarre wasn't sattisfied, but who knows? Maybe he has even taken the step and drawn some Equinoxe tracks into it, or just something else Oxygene related. We can only wait and see, eventhough it's some months a head

There’s a VIP section for the venue Torwar, Warsaw, Poland:

The VIP ticket costs 660 zł, in GBP that is around about £162  according to Universal Currency Converter.

Jakob BC - Fri Jul 25, 2008 12:15 pm

And those with a VIP ticket probably don't experience a better concert for that reason :)

Doesn't matter where i live. i live not far from Moscow but some problem could come up as usual, and the main issue is the money...and in fact that i still nonage... but i hope i'll get there, doesn't matter how many efforts it will cost.

What do you think, what kind of innovations can be heared at stage 2 ? :P
Is it true that 2 hrs will be performed per concerts?
Will Oxygene 7 or 10 be played, or maybe Arpegiator as a bonus?? :punch:

Zuzua - Sat Aug 02, 2008 6:02 pm

Arpegiatuer played live would be fantastic I hope we´ll hear some Equinoxe stuff as well. :P So far the 2 hours programe is planned only for the Moscow concerts isn´t it? :| Maybe the conception of the concert will be slightly changed different lighting more mirrors... hehe who knows? 8)

They mentioned earlier that they had to skip tracks like Oxygene 7 and 10 because these tracks didn't fit the concept, and wasn't possible to perform with the carefully chosen instruments. But who knows. Maybe they changed something to make it fit.

I did not buy my tickets, i have to do that very soon 'cause i'm sure all the tickets will be bought within short time! :P :)

Kanta - Wed Aug 27, 2008 11:55 am

I never bought my tickets straightaway. :wink2:

Oh the memories, how they come flooding back.

Robi - Wed Aug 27, 2008 11:58 am

I can buy tickets in a local office called "Tour Inform" or something like this, where concert tickets can be received, among others. :D
Jakob BC - Wed Aug 27, 2008 12:09 pm

at least two of the four concerts in my country was sold out on 30 minutes, and I was waiting for the sale to begin online where I bought my tickets immediately. Also be ware that 'available tickets' doesn't mean good seats  Where I bought my tickets, the tickets even had a green status several days after it was announced that the concerts had sold out. I would be out more quickly, but that's just my opinion :) I don't know how big the fanbase is or how many interested you'll find in Hungary. It seems to be different from country to country.
Robi - Wed Aug 27, 2008 12:19 pm

Thanks Jakob for your remarks! :) I think i buy them ASAP !

Not offensive at all, its the truth. What is not so good, that is not so good. Thats all. :P
And true "Marigny version" was better, tour version was too rockish what is not good for an Oxygene! :P

Anyhow, I'm still kind of irked that this leg of the tour does not include Estonia... or Finland for that matter :punch:

I'm not in there, sorry. :P
Comparing the two, album version is more melodic than tour, that is too...i said.
If i ask some people i'm sure they would choose album version (or Marigny version) as better. :)

Not saying i won't like Oxygene 5 when i will hear it in live, just JMJ could play ir more carefully.

Jakob BC - Thu Sep 04, 2008 7:43 pm

I don't think it can be played more careful. I think it's quite good done. The solo part should go more after the book, or Perrier should do that solo, but perhaps thats also the part you are talking about :)
Finaero - Thu Sep 04, 2008 7:47 pm

You're not getting my point, but that doesn't really matter for now. :p:

Not to sound like an ass either, but I'd think this new leg of the tour would be much more worthwhile if it actually had Oxygene 7 or 10 (11? Whole Oxygene 7-13 album?) in addition to the other tracks. Of course, if it's the first chance for many Eastern Europeans to see him live in ages, well, I guess I can still nitpick about it :punch:

Right! that doesn't matter as it was Robi I replied to

Anyway JMJ mentioned tracks like Oxygne 7 and 10 to be too digital and difficult to play live, wo he wouldn't use those, still he might have changed his mind since then. We'll see what happens. It would surprise me if the tracklist hasn't been into a development since first part of the tour.
Im already beginning to (GEEK ALERT!) be excited about whether he has changed parts of the instrument setup, since he got some more retro stuff that appeals to performances.

I think it's also the way it was produced and pulled together, however what they have been able to do onstage regarding sequencing proves that they at least would be able to get a decent result. I don't know how they would manage that sequenced mellotron part or the choir for instance.

As in Hungary we say : "one word as hundred"(word) - it could be played more softly...Like he expressed his opposite attitude to music than Kraftwerk does : more melody.

Kanta - Sun Sep 07, 2008 1:34 pm

JMJ can play it softly but this version is very powerful. :cool2:

It fits very well as part of the concert to have some upbeat tempos. :clap3: Makes the crowd go wild and :sad2: massacre. :p:

That's an impressive number. 8) But will all those seats be available? As most of the concerts were small audiences compared to that figure.

It's a shame that I wasn't able to find any recordings of the Skive concert. Anyone let me know if it excists. Like I mentioned before, it was not like his usual solos, if you could call it a regular solo at all as it didn't take all the space in the overall track. It was just one of those less melodic but fast improvised solos. It was more dreamy and a very typical soft minimoog sound (done on the voyager).
It was played between Oxygene 6 and 12.

Post subject: ST PETERSBURG VENUE CHANGE
Hello Kanta,

Just noticed that you have the incorrect venue for Jean Michel Jarre's forthcoming St Petersburg Concert. The venue is now BKZ Oktyabrsky (www.bkz.sp.ru). This venue change was confirmed on September 4th 2008 by Jean Michel Jarre's Agent, details of which are posted on JARRE UK (www.jarreuk.com).

Please note that there has also been a venue change for Slovenia (moving from Hala Tivoli 1 to Hala Tivoli 2), again confirmed on September 4th 2008 by Jean Michel Jarre's Agent.

Just keeping you informed,

Dunkie

Kanta - Tue Sep 16, 2008 12:41 pm

Hello Dunkie, :D

Thanks a lot for letting me know. Very much appreciated. :D I will change the relevant info.

Dunkie - Tue Sep 16, 2008 12:47 pm

Hello Kanta,

No problem. You'll find all Box Office information, including Ticket Prices on JARRE UK too.

Hope this helps,

Dunkie

Kanta - Tue Sep 16, 2008 12:51 pm

It helps a lot. :D

Will you be attending any of the concerts?

Dunkie - Tue Sep 16, 2008 1:00 pm

I don't think so...if I do it would probably be the Bratislava Concert, simply because I've been invited there, but as I have a lot of problems at the moment (hence why JARRE UK has not been as updated as regularly as it used to be this year), I'm not sure I will be able to attend. :(

All the best,

Dunkie

Kanta - Tue Sep 16, 2008 1:08 pm

Wow, an invite :injure: . But it is understandable that things come up and you can't go. At least, you went to see JMJ at the Royal Albert Hall. Oh boy, that was simply fantastic. :bravo: I hope your problems get better soon. Thanks again for your vital contribution here and at JarreUK. :D

All the best to you Dunkie and please visit us again.

I didn't misunderstand the question. Oxygene 12 was critizised for this during the whole tour. But to me it's just the lead, so "totally"? I just never understood why they never fixed it. Each time they complained about the earmonitor system, but only for this track?

GeeJee - Sun Sep 21, 2008 12:40 pm

Listen again. :P
Especially to the vid Robi posted.
At the end it's a big mess :P

Kanta - Sun Sep 21, 2008 1:12 pm

But it proofs they were playing live, mistakes and all. :p: It would only be a mess, if we could not identify the track at all. :fine:

Thanxs for the video link, Robi.

Robi - Sun Sep 21, 2008 1:31 pm

Mess or not, they could do some sync-work to make it more perfect.
I don't think JMJ has not noticed this problem.

Kanta - Sun Sep 21, 2008 1:42 pm

Maybe, he has but the old ladies will not behave. :p:
Jakob BC - Sun Sep 21, 2008 1:45 pm

Well according to the musicians, this problem was due to problems with their in-ear-monitors, so the were not able to fit what they were playing into the final mix.
Big time - Sun Sep 21, 2008 3:42 pm

This is actually way beyond me  :P

They can run these concerts in totally sync every single time! BUT when it comes to this Oxy 12 track, this is appearently IMPOSSIBLE!??? I don´t get it? :D Hasn´t it been possible for the guys to just sit down an hour or two during this tour and just LOOK at the problem and then FIX it!?? :D :D

Well, you should suppose they have, but as we all know, it never got better/in sync? :P

Let´s see if it´s solved with this next tour :D One should think it is :P

Kanta - Sun Sep 21, 2008 4:37 pm

Well, they have had enough time between the 2 tours to solve the problem. If not, I hope fans will be satisfied nevertheless. :p:

Believe me I love that he is playing Oxygene again, with the old instruments and touring the hell out of it, but after a year of this it's becoming like one of those 80's bands that just tour with their old songs and nothing else...

Article mentions his upcoming concert in Prague and his collection od analog synthesisers. JMJ as usually explains beauty of these instruments and points out they were made of unique material used only by army at that time. And they called him "Antiquarian" under photo :P

"unique material"?

Had JMJ overdossed on Prozak before doing the interview

(my Andromeda A6 is made from old discarded angel wings, delivered by swans and shaped by fairies who live at the bottom of my garden)

Zuzua - Fri Oct 17, 2008 2:24 pm

You indeed have very special instrument but I´m afraid he didn´t say exactly unique, that was just my bad translation. :pwned: It was ment the instruments are not that fragile as they are considered to be and they are made od very substantial material.

Electronic Music Pioneeer Jean-Michel Jarre to Perform in Romania’s Capital

World-famous musician Jean-Michel Jarre, known as a pioneer in the electronic, synthpop and New Age genres, will hold a concert in Bucharest on November 10.

The performance, according to the Romanian on-line media ziare.com, is included in the second part of Jarre’s closed-doors tour – the first of its kind in the performer’s career.

The first part of the tour, the publication noted, took place this spring in several Western European cities, although BalkanTravellers.com found no information on the upcoming Bucharest stop on Jarre’s official website.

On the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the release of the Jarre’s album Oxygene, the musician will perform in Bucherest’s Sala Polivalentă Hall. Assisted by three other musicians, Jean-Michel Jarre will use vintage synthesisers in his performance.

Kanta - Fri Oct 17, 2008 11:07 pm

Yep, it's very good there is some publicity for the Oxygene Tour Stage 2. Just making fans aware of that. :p: Might not be new but it's publicity. :fine:

Ahem. Any news on the tour thingie? OR WILL HE DO THE SAME ALL OVER AGAIN... :pwned:
Robi - Sat Oct 18, 2008 2:04 pm

Concerts' duration will be 1h30 for sure?
GeeJee - Sat Oct 18, 2008 6:01 pm

Don't know who says so?
Robi - Sat Oct 18, 2008 6:09 pm

~1h30 was played during first part of the tour, reports mentionned. Just would like to know if this data was correct... :) Maybe more than 1h30 for second stage? :smoke:
Kanta - Sat Oct 18, 2008 7:57 pm

Depends if the "old ladies" will behave themselves. :smoke:
Robi - Sun Oct 19, 2008 12:02 am

Has Oxygene 13 been played only after applause in every concerts?
I know he did this for some concerts, but for every?

I hope minimum 1h30 will be done... :P

And i think JMJ should play last Oxy 13 track in every case, so if there is no long applause after Oxy 12, he would have to play Oxy 13 also...Do you get me? :P

GeeJee - Sun Oct 19, 2008 12:04 am

I don't think the performance of Oxygene 13 depended on the length of the applause... :P
Jakob BC - Sun Oct 19, 2008 12:11 am

As far as I have registered, it was played at every single concert of the tour.
Kanta - Sun Oct 19, 2008 12:52 pm

I can confirm what Jakob says. I have followed all the Oxygene concerts stage 1 and Oxygene 13 was played on every single one.
Finaero - Sun Oct 19, 2008 12:56 pm

Even at Marigny?

I'd consider those gigs as a part fo the same tour, just as those random Oxygene Tour at France in October 1997 (after the Moscow) concert are considered of the same tour :P

Kanta - Sun Oct 19, 2008 12:58 pm

Finaero wrote:

But then again if we consider that to be a part of the tour, Oxygene 13 was never intended to be played there. In the end it was about whether or not Oxygene 13 was meant only to be played, if the audience really asked for it. I suppose it was simply a planned encore. Even if the audience yelled Oxygene 4 in unison in sync with the applause, Oxygene 13 would probably still be played :)

Finaero - Sun Oct 19, 2008 1:31 pm

I guess that's a point but I still consider all of these concerts part of the same tour :p:
Jakob BC - Sun Oct 19, 2008 1:32 pm

I see what you mean
Kanta - Sun Oct 19, 2008 1:36 pm

But they were not added on the tour list on JMJ's official website or on his MySpace page. :p: There was a gap of several months from Théâtre Marigny concerts and the first concert that started the tour. :fine:
Finaero - Sun Oct 19, 2008 1:39 pm

There were also 4 months between Oxygene Tour in Milan and Oxygene Tour in Grenoble in 1997. And I also remember the October concerts not being listed as a part of the tour because they were only decided to be held later. :P
GeeJee - Sun Oct 19, 2008 1:39 pm

Yup. And how exactly did he tour? In circles around the theatre? :robertdugenou:
Finaero - Sun Oct 19, 2008 1:40 pm

GeeJee - Sun Oct 19, 2008 1:41 pm

Kanta - Sun Oct 19, 2008 1:41 pm

Okay Finaero, I have tried to change your mind. If you feel this strongly, I will let you be. :p: :wink2:
Finaero - Sun Oct 19, 2008 1:42 pm

Well, I guess we have to talk about something before the second leg of the tour actually begins :P
Kanta - Sun Oct 19, 2008 1:46 pm

I wonder if there will be a third leg? :punch:
Robi - Sun Oct 19, 2008 7:13 pm

I wonder if after Oxygene 13 will be an other encore, for instance Oxy 7? :P
No, Oxy 13 is encore-like last-kind track. :P

If JMJ is still of the same opinion we shouldn't expect tracks like Oxygene 7 and 10. He said earlier that they were not possible to perform with the vintage setup, but on the other hand it's a long time ago, so he could as well have found a way to get around it. Besides that we can always discuss it. I don't think Oxygene 7 works good as a last track. I think it's more a starter or somehow in the startingphase of a concert.

GeeJee - Sun Oct 19, 2008 8:35 pm

Agreed. Oxygene 10 could work well as an Encore. It would be very interesting though, to hear some tracks that we consider more digital nowadays, being performed on the old instruments.
Jakob BC - Sun Oct 19, 2008 9:20 pm

If we have to take Oxygene 10 apart and look at the elements, it would be possible. After all is it based on analogue sounds, eventhough he might have used the JV-90 and Raven a lot on a track like Oxygene 10. The TR-808 is old enough to be on stage, the bass, the lead, the sequence, the alien/theremin whine, the filtered noise coming in and out and the various effects in the background can be done with the analogue gear. There is also the mellotron string sound in it, and they already have a Mellotron on stage. A lot of the background EFX wouldn't be noticed live anyway.

Haha I like what they have done to the Eminent. Very DIY to hold down the right keys. I just wonder why.

GeeJee - Fri Nov 07, 2008 11:35 am

Perhaps during one of the intros, they needed a long sustaining chord and hands free to play around with the other toys... it's a rather big chord anyway... don't think even I can make that... (i have quite big hands..)

This is the best part of the interview:

=

What are you working on, do you plan new album?

JMJ: Yes, i plan, though now my energy belongs to Oxygene Tour mainly. I'm looking forward to be arrived in Budapest. But i do plan new albums and concert projects, and i hope we can do an outdoor gig in hungary in near future. Budapest is one of my favourite European cities..." Well Birmingham symphony hall was quite empty.I'd say only half of the tickets were sold, but I'd guess that, that was because of the way they announced the tour dates in the UK,with RAH being announced as a one off concert, most people I suspect had bought tickets for that already...Plus the fact the tickets weren't cheap!!!

It's very nice to see Jarre so fresh and full of energy on stage. :D

I really hope that he will release a DVD from this tour. And I really hope the DVD will be a real fans' treat containing:
- A tour documentary with clips from the concerts and lots of backstage stuff
- At least one but preferrably more than one (why not? - DVD's are cheap to make) complete concerts, from beginning to end, as they happened. No cuts, no edits, no corrections - just the entire concert.

Then, in mid- to late 2009 - a new album in the style of the old ones, but still fresh and new.

Then a new tour playing some Oxygene, Equinoxe and other tracks, and songs from the new album, 100% live. At least one concert in Tromsø, Norway.

Then, another DVD from that tour and a new album. And so on.

That's really all I'm asking. :)

Not quite, it was just out of tune. You can easily hear that it's the Oxygene 4 sound. You can also see him "tell" Francis to take over or something, and the highnoted backup sound kicks in. Still there is some sort of lead playing very low in the background, just the Eminent?. Argh a strange situation. A better sounding clip would have been better to analyse from. These clips are still better than nothing though, so thanks for posting them.

Jakob BC - Tue Nov 11, 2008 12:57 am

:punch: SOrry terrible mistake by me. Still it could be one of those crappy situations where a memoryloaded parameter suddently changes to the value of the knob. Anyway my point was that I think it was suppsoed to make a sound, but the mess makes him confused and he let the other take over. The horn lead sound kicks in again later in the track. He is probably still a bit out of focus as you can he some playing mistakes.

i'm back!!!!! :D :D

I was the very participant of the history of music!! I was there, i saw Jarre personally!!!!!!!!!! :peacemaan: :peacemaan: :D :D I can't belive!!
The concert was perfect, although it was sometimes too loud, but this is my "false" cause i wanted to be near to the musicians, to see all of them!

This is one of my favourite part of the concert.
http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=PCSk1Je-Mto
JMJ was walking on streets of Budapest when he meet Norbert Pável, who is a street musician. Jarre got the idea to invlove Norbert into the concert, with his special intruments.
There was a Hungarian guest in this concert!!!!!!

The concert was great!

Thank you Jean Michel!!!!!!!!

In the beginning of the seventies, Jean Michel Jarre was the pioneer for electronic music with his synthesizer compositions. Last night, he revived his 30 year old oeuvre 'Oxygen'"

I have seen merchandise, but i don't know if different or not compared to first stage.

The reviews of the concert are mainly positive, but the person responsible for decent sound quality, was not in his best at all. Sadly, Oxygene 12 was a big mess, due to strong bass line...

Hello all

Just arrived from the concert...so here are my fresh impressions

:peacemaan:

Concert started with 30 minutes delay but the waiting was worth it. Covered in dark three other musicians came out on stage but no sign of JMJ. Then he appeared long distance from the stage and the crowd went crazy as he walked through the corridods. ( I touched the master´s shoulder....aaaaaaaaargh! )

Jarre looked fantastic wearing brown leather jacket and smiling enjoying the moments with us. He had nice speach about old ladies, pointed out there´s no single computer on stage and he even mentioned dark times Czechoslovakia went through which was really nice of him.

Tuning up the instruments was really something....I was barely breathing. The audience was quite silent in the beginning maybe still hypnotised by the masterpiece. Oxygene 4 was the right one to warm up the crowd. JMJ played with such an energy and passion that I really doubt he turned 60 this year. Jarre charmed Prague with the magic of timeless Oxygene. After Oxygene 12 enthusiastic fans gathered around the stage and Jean Michel played Oxygene 13 in really touching atmosphere. Musicians finally came back to play Oxygene 4 again. fantastic...unforgettable...very special...these words come to my mind when I think about yesterday´s Prague gig.

My dream came true and I thank Jean Michel with all my heart for bringing Oxygene to Prague

Oxygenated Suzane

Unfortunatelly there was stupidly strict rules at the arena so I couldn´t pass through my camera. :? Anyway some photos from the concert - http://tyden.cz/fotogaler...denacti-letech/

Short Prague´s review :

The Prague´s concert was amazing...

Intro song is interesting, but I don´t think that Jean will use it for new album. It is typical intro song without melodic line.

Till O12 the audience was seated. Before O13 some people (including me :D
) went before podium and started "standing ovation". It was during whole O13. Later whole team returned back and started encore O4 onesmore. Last rhythm of O4 was repeated longer time - against previous version in setlist. During this encore O4 the "standing ovation" was too (hundreds of people). I hope that Jean was happy

Jakob BC - Fri Nov 14, 2008 12:10 pm

Sounds great with that encore. Good to hear that he allows himself to do something a bit different, as in Hungary :)
GeeJee - Fri Nov 14, 2008 12:15 pm

Thanks for your awesome report Suzane and Petr... 8)

I enjoyed the intro song once more and it's great to hear he did an encore version of Oxygene 4. How did it differ from the original? Or was it mostly the same?

I think the concert could have really been longer. Everyone knows it is Oxygene Tour and therefor 1-2 more tracks from Oxy 7-13 would have been fit quite well. The most negative reviews and feedbacks were because of this...Oxy 10 and 8...belive me, these would be great yet.

The more popular upbeat tracks the better!!

Competent synths for Oxy 10 and 8 should be used then.

Still everybody has had the chance to read about what this tour is about. There are always reviews made by folks who expected an indoor version of the La Defense concert :P
Oxygene 12 has been critisised a lot... how is it now? Well except for the bass

I had quite a well to read what this tour is about. But this does not mean it could not have been longer with mentionned tracks for example...I did not expect indoor La Defense cause i knew what kind of concert i will go to.
But some fans here also waited for longer performance and let's say : its true, with a 15 minutes encore would be needed. Claude said Oxygene 10 live has been in JMJ's mind for some time...so we (and JMJ) had / have the chance: lets play Oxy 10.

Kanta - Fri Nov 14, 2008 3:25 pm

A looooooog concert would be good but not all artists perform to a time length.
Jon - Fri Nov 14, 2008 4:38 pm

I know that Oxy gave Jarre the household name he just deserves, but I do often wonder if he gets a bit tired of playing the same thing over and over again, and so often, such as these tours show. I realise he has to like playing them and the tour is not just down to Jarre himself, but it would be like us playing the same record over and over again. Its fun while it lasts, but you do need a break - maybe one reason why he took a break with this years tour.
Kanta - Fri Nov 14, 2008 5:09 pm

It was a very long break. :| Let's hope the next tour won't be as long as that. :wink2:

With most tours, any artist will tell you its not the playing thats tiring or boring, its the actual travelling between dates, and all the usual crap that goes with travelling internationally, and setting up night after night You can't beat that adrenaline rush of being on stage, even after months and months of playing it,its becomes easier as your less aware of what your playing as it becomes second nature, one of the reasons why so many artist become depressed after long tours they find it hard to adjust to not having that buzz before and after coming off stage. As with artists in the game as long as Jarre, its more about the fun factor than money or promotion, infact Jarre and co would have it relativly easy to the people who are actually behind the scenes.
A break from the tour, like Jarre's done is usually harder to face the second time around, rather than a longer stretch in one go,all the logisitics and heartache of the first phaze would be fresh in their mind that its harder to have the same enthusiasm after such a long break, although the batteries would be refreshed its harder to forsee doing it again..

You can see the strain in Jarres face on some of the pics from the first phase, lack of sleep and constantly living out of a suitcase, in and out of hotels out of routine, not seeing family regular,He had a constant Bags under the eyes look, althought from these latest pics he looks freshened up.

Can you imagine the people behind the scenes and rigging night after night, who have an even harder job....
still I'd undergo that strain to be on Tour with Jarre

Stereomatic - Fri Nov 14, 2008 10:00 pm

Hi,

I am just back from Prag. The concert wasn´t as good as the concerts I saw in smaller venues like Marigny or Alte Oper. The concept of the show was originally conceived for a more private atmosphere which you don´t have with more than 10000 people.
The light-design was similar to the previous concerts, very restrained but powerful. But what disturbed me a lot were the two additinal screen left and right to the stage, showing live images from the Musician. They didn´t fit to the primarily light-show because of the cuts. It was to hectic and the eyes were always focused on the screens.

All in all it was (as always) worth going to a Jarre Concert (no. 16 for me..)

To Kanta:
The merchandising was the same except for the Shirts, they had the actual tourdates with November as headline.

The safety reminded me on the checkin on airports with your bags being x-rayed! So it was impossible to get anything inside the Arena. Therefore I can only share bad mobile photos with you. As we had VIP tickets we were able to see parts of the rehearsal, so don´t be irritated if there is no audience!

Stereomatic - Fri Nov 14, 2008 10:02 pm

OK, now I just have to find out how to submit pictures...

Even if i am a big fan of JMJ, i must ask why does JMJ need to play Oxygene 4 two times per concerts? It is the most popular track, sure, but it sounds a bit boring to hear it as an encore yet. (Though i was not that bored at concert when i heared live.)
Why there is no another Oxy track, for instance 8 or the 10th? ...

Jakob BC - Tue Nov 18, 2008 9:34 pm

As mentioned hundred times, JMJ probably has his reasons not to play those tracks. A few sources including JMJ himself, indicate that he has thought about it. If you look at the tracklist, Oxygene 4 is the best suited track for an encore, besides the fact that it is the most known track from the album.
jeanbatman - Tue Nov 18, 2008 9:52 pm

I gasp when I rethink of ourselves shouting out loud for an encore track, the saturday night in marigny one other day when the memory moog collapsed in middle of Oxy2, the 15 december.
At the end of the show, after Oxygène 12, Jarre told us : "On ne peut pas bisser Oxygène" which stands for "You cannot encore Oxygène".

We were quite dissapointed at that time...

Stereomatic - Wed Nov 19, 2008 12:10 pm

Jean-Michel often played the actual single twice, like

RDV4 in Houston/Lyon
Revolutions in London
Calypso in Paris
Chrono 4 at EIC

It became a bit of a tradition maybe which he continues now, as Oxygene 4 has been released as a Promo CD-Single...

Moscow. A choir of Mendeleev Institute - that one which honored Jean Michel performs to him some Russian songs and one special track composed by a native Greek musician from Russia Konstantinos Kaihanidi
who composed an album "PLANET JARRE"

Great was the surprise when I learned that the conductor of the choir is famous Boris Tarakanov. Famous because he runs a greatest sheet music site on the net, but in Russian mainly. Anyway I found it very usefull. It contains anything from small children songs to operas and symphonies.

Heya Milan!

Zuzua - Sat Nov 29, 2008 10:53 pm

Jean Michel is for the first time in Slovakia so he has quite big publicity. I couldn´t resist not to go this concert. Pasienky hall was sold out and the audience was amazing and warm cheering up JMJ from the very begining. Sitting in the nearest possible place to stage watching master "cooking"was so powerful. Again Jarre and other musicians were giving so much energy to every note. The crowd was completely under the Oxygene spell. Sound was perfect and only disturbing thing were the photographers occupating the place under stage. But they had to left after while. JMJ had standind ovation for Oxygene 12, 13 and Oxygene 4. Bravo Jean Michel!!!

And my big dream came true. Just owing to Pierre (one of the Jarre´s crew memebers) we got behind the stage. Another guy didn´t want to let us go to JMJ personally so after we pleased him he took our stuff and brougt it back signed from Jarre himself. Wooooow!
Than we saw Francis waiting near the exit followed by Claude and Dominic. To our endless lucky that evening Jarre appeared in a while and let us to make pictures with him. What a charming guy!!!

BTW there was no check at the entrance and I´ve seen many people recording on cameras during the concert. So there should be lots of material soon.

Master and very happy fan...I thought I´m taller than him :P

Post subject: Thanks for the Tour
Yes, it was really great for the fans and other listeners from Eastern Europe who like the music of J.M. Jarre to see and hear him on tour, including the two concerts in the Baltic States.
I have written a few words from myself (in my blog at normunds-normunds.blogspot.com) as well as translated a few reviews of what the Latvian press had to say about the concert after the performance, should anyone be interested in this.
I could have wished for more from the Oxygene 7-13 album, as the concert in Riga contained an opening piece, Oxygene I to VI, with some transitions in between, Oxygene XII and XIII, plus an encore of Oxygene IV) but ... less is more.
Cheers. :fine:

Your problem ..not mine! :D

....and the same guy who did the great Oxygene success in 1976 is the same man who does the Oxygene success in 2008! :D

But I did discover him in 1969 as a very special guy, which means I am one of his oldest fan! :P

It depend on if you like a babyface or not!
Just kidding!

What I mean is that the age has nothing to say when you like a personality!
Today I look back with joy to people I met,my own youth and my daughters when they were children ! :D
Every year in a persons life has its charm! :fine:

I have friends in all ages! :D

What is interesting is: Jarre is still on stage!
...even if some people said some years ago:
Jarre will soon get retired!
Jarre is getting old!
He can't make music anylonger as in old days!
He can't play live!

But Jarre has a young and warm heart,he is true to his job,and he is listening to his fans!

Some years ago I remember people said,Jarre doesn't care about his fans!

This year he has a blog that is popular!

So never say never about anyone!

And now after this successful Oxygene tour 2008,-I really look forward to 2009 and the new concert projects! :D

Here is what a comment was made after 2008 Budapest.

I do not know what to think. Incredible I was early, and walked around in the gravel. The only way the house rang around the well-known melodies. Two things can be: or a CD and has tried to audiotechnics technicians (6-7 pm?) Or JMJ tuned stuff. In comparison, some do not understand why I had 20 minutes on the stage "aligned" with that nice comment you made. The tuning is practically a perfect hubbub was twenty minutes, 1-2 seconds melody-like things an explanation, none of which arose out tunes, so tuning is not good. The problem is that play music, so I'm not completely stupid thing. Okay, őskövület analog machines are not, but ... Anyway. Then suddenly, without any transition went perfectly, the first track, and only a quarter of the subsequent playtime marked by a total frenzy. Hubbub of the Spartans, an ear-splitting "effects" series. Moreover, it was observed throughout the course of the concert: Jarre track, a large proportion of the total of all bekattanás közeliségi state "was an" unrecognizable szüttyögések rattle and incredible set. Then the cameras. The Art and surrounded by eight small camera, which has been set, that does not accidentally see the hands. And, unfortunately, once seen. The problem there is that ... the voice, what hit me, "he said in an earlier time, as it would have been the key kezecskéje. Now, that drove me to the security, since the worst came to my mind s disco-playback. And totally outraged, one more item in the kísérődallam sound eltranszponálva, and in time to offset szóélalt. If the LIVE music, the musicians immediately improve. But no. Fuck the music had a few moments, and it has not been corrected. The mask musical sleeves her in the back of the large in calm spin potmetres, even when there was no change in the music. Why? The truth the fact that a gigantic Humbel drew a picture of me. Either live or computer-driven, does not matter: but it was not music artists play live, that's for sure. The Thereminen of playing ... I was fed up It can be seen on Youtube, and others that could play this incredible sound generator, JMJ around. kindergarten was a first attempt in this area. Ten years ago there I went crazy about the delight of the Népstadium. THIS IS ON BEHALF OF JMJ poor, shaft, soft, amateur, old show was. I'm awfully sorry, a world collapsed in me. And 40 years old. Tomb of the soul. Oh, and the audience. Everyone around me stirred, and many went to beer (while), a lady of about 50 of her husband's shoulder was sleeping because he is so freaked out ... Applause was only when JMJ kikövetelte. So, do not go on. I'll weep.
