Once I thought that I have listened to all Magnetic field versions on CD (whether the original 80's or the 97-2014 remasters), till I found out that there was a remster done the year 1991 .

Yes, I have it. I have the whole remaster series from that batch, but I remember it was the same as the late 87 remasters. I will post some analytics tomorrow, fun!

So yeah, the 1987 CD release is probably the same as the 1991 remaster.

when it comes to sound:

- Both Polydor WG 800024-2 02 and Polydor WG 800024-2 03 are identical sound and dynamics.
and both sound noticebaly brighter than Polydor WG 800024-2 01 .

- The Disques Dreyfus WG FDM CD 18108, less bright than Both WG 800024-2 02 and WG 800024-2 03, but brighter than WG 800024-2 01.
actually I liked how it sounds compared to them.

- The 97 remastered, I don't like because the bass is exaggerated, feels like Rap or Euro Dance! ...
but if you just reduce bass by equalizer it will sound fine.

- The later remasters has a unique tone.. if you want something sound really different from all other past masterings (more depth?), I think you can try them. they are loud though.

- The 1991: this one
https://www.discogs.com/es/release/8740 ... 3%A9tiques

sound similar to the Polydor WG 800024-2 02 ... though it was issued in 1991, it is not mentioned that it was remastered.

I think the one mentioned by Dr Jones , is this :
https://www.discogs.com/es/release/1520 ... 3%A9tiques

isn't it?

Yes, correct. I own Equinoxe and Oxygene from that series (colorful CD label and black bar at the right back of the CD box) and they are the same as the "golden border" remasters (which are identical to the late 80s remasters).

I compared your post with my copy of the red label Polydor Magnetic Fields I have, because the values of your 800 024-2 [??] didn't match with mine. I confirm I have a 800 024-2 [02] (and not a [01] as I previously thought... guess I have to dig out some money for a [01] copy) but my copy has a DR19 for Magnetic Fields 3, instead of the DR18 in your post... But it matches the CD-18108 values.

I will update my post for completeness.

It seems that I confused the 02 with the 03
sorry

I checked again and found out that the 02 is different from 03 ... they are not typical neither in sound nor in dynamics.04 is typical with 03 ....

to sum up :

01 sounds the most dull in all of them ..02 is brighter , 03 and 04 both typical and sound brighter than 02.
I like 02 the best . but I think analogue sound lovers will enjoy 01.
