I suppose I'm very nitpicky, but the only reason I don't think the new master recording is that great is because of the absolutely amateurish extra noise present in Oxygene 1. I'll certainly take the MFSL master any day
Well thats a huge give away thats its possibly from the master tapes....That Noise is only present when the Glock sound is present,You can hear it on Part 4 on the intro glock too,so its possibly either from the Instrument used for that sounds output,or was a product of over bouncing audio tracks back at the original Recording sessions, degrading the Audio Quality and introducing more Noise with each bounce
Now we have these Higher types of Audio rate and wider Dynamic range availible on recording equipment today all other versions of the Album prior to it were not so noticable the levels can be pushed more today where he got away with it from Tape saturation and analog recoding formats back then so all the freqs that were present in this recording on previous formats were either Quashed on Analog tape and not easily heard. Now he can push the peak Level of this new recording with a better audio rate, you can hear it more...if it was cleanly rerecorded it wouldn't be there..its simply a poor signal to Noise ratio on that particular track that unless rerecorded Jarre couldn't do anything with it(Except perhaps try and Quash it a little by eqing it out bt that would affect the overall sound of the Glock too)
Only problem,Why the hell didn't Jarre hear it even at low monitoring levels its easily noticiable....Seems to me Like he sat there cued up the Studers set a standard Mixing setup and buggered off for a couple of pints whilst it recorded end to end into Protools
Apart from that Noise, the new master CD has a nice sound to it,I didn't like it at first, but you can certainly hear more detailing on this version. Its has a nice fidelity to it and an overall more fuller sound perhaps because he added more reverbertion on the overall Mix sound,Part 2 sounds better you cna hear more of the flute detailing at the end of the track and Part 6 seems to be more pleasing to listen like this, you can hear every element without straining to hear the RMI parts like in previous versions.
I agree 100% with Equinoxe ... It's IMPOSSIBLE to record again everything that will sound EXACTLY same...
anyway many tracks are clearer... even some eminent noises can be clearly heard in oxygene 1 for example... flute solo in oxy 2 is great; at last i can hear missing notes in my replica oxy4 rhytm is not so good... not so warm

It's normally quiet before the s**t hits the fan, so to speak. I hope they have settled out of court but the fans should be told so we can upload our videos on YouTube related to Oxygene. The statement should come from both parties, JMJ and FDM.
