Today I am especially proud to be European. I am also so proud of all my creator colleagues who joined our JUST SAY YES! campaign. We thank you MEP’s for hearing our voice! Today we have given a future livelihood to the next generation of creators-merci for them #yes2copyright

Jean-Michel Jarre: European Parliament has given creators a fairer deal in the digital world

CISAC President and electronic music pioneer Jean-Michel Jarre commented today on the vote by the European Parliament to adopt the EU Copyright Directive:

"I am delighted that, after three years of intense deliberation, the European Parliament has voted for a fairer deal for creators in the digital world. This is the "yes to copyright" that hundreds and thousands of creators have been asking for in order to preserve their livelihoods, and European culture, in the future. I want to say a huge thank you to the European Parliament for listening and understanding creators’ concerns.

This is a really important decision that has enormous implications worldwide. It recognises that that a 21st century internet needs a 21st century level of protection for creators. It confirms that the big tech companies which use creative content must be made to negotiate fairly with the creators who fill their pipes and cables with their works. And it sets up a more just, balanced and responsible partnership between the creative community and the vast and powerful technology goliaths that increasingly dominate our digital world."

Victory #Yes2Copyright, whether you like it or not...
Hey Guys,
When I read some of the hate comments, I feel that you are indeed the ones back in George Orwell’s « 1984 »…
And sometimes yes I do a bit of politics & you do not like that, I really don’t care, because I am doing it to avoid that our kids will have to do it, I want to give them a chance to be entirely focused on what they want to create instead.
Please read the article in biog, it’s talking to you, about you !

"Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.”

JmJ when will you ever learn :
governments only do things when there is $$ incentive for governments; threat fear; or large corporation bending governments to their will (google, apple, amazon).

I understand you don't know what else to do JmJ.

Solution simple : two solutions I gave to you in London 2016.

I want to thank Billboard for making me part of their 2019 International Power Player List as president of CISAC. It is another recognition of the creators rights we are fighting for.

https://www.billboard.com/articles/busi ... hJqRuKh-00

“Jean-Michel Jarre, 70
President, CISAC

Electronic music pioneer Jarre has long been one of the world’s most relentless activists for creators’ rights. As president of CISAC (the Paris-based organization representing 239 authors societies), he successfully fought for passage of the new Copyright Directive to ensure rights holders were fairly compensated. “In this struggle, we face giant opponents: the Goliaths of the tech world,” says Jarre. “These companies are essential partners for us, and they have produced fantastic innovations. Yet we can never stop getting the creators’ message out: It is us -- the creators, not the tech companies -- who are providing the fuel of the digital world.”
