This is probably the most insightful interview about what went on behind the scenes with Jarre and his record company that we will be able to read, I think.
As with most artists, also Jarre fell out with his collaborators because of money and and low sales.
Over the years I've claimed that the sales of both Oxygene 7-13 and Metamorphoses were much lower than what fans thought they were (some people have claimed they sold millions, which I've never believed for a second) and I see that she confirms that they were low.
The only thing we don't get the answer of is why Jarre thought Dreyfus and Sony were to blame for the low sales. Nobody can claim that Sony didn't promote Oxygene 7-13 heavily. Jarre had his own complete evenings on MTV, for crissake.
There have also been a lot of fans speculating that S2K were released by Dreyfus without Jarre's involvement. Turns out that he was the one that put together an album with nothing but presets and presented to them, just to get out of his contract. Funny.
I'm glad Jarre and Dreyfus patched things up before Dreyfus died. Or at least it seems that they did, according to Feuillerat.
Very interesting read, nonetheless. Thank you very much!
