I just came across a listing for a new vinyl LP release of Chronologie (as "Chronology"), supposedly to be released in April 2018:

Unfortunately you can pretty much bet that this is going to be based on the 2015 remaster...

I just wonder about the quality of the Chronology master. Is it even possible to make it sound any less flat, harsh and distorded?
I think I'm okey with the 1993 Scott Hull CD release. "It is what it is" sort of speak.

I never really got the problem with the sound quality of Chronology. Never found it bad, not even the '93 release some say even had a tinny sound. Might be an improvement a new remaster though.
Oh who am I kidding, make it twenty times louder and compress the hell out of it !

I got an unplayed copy of the Korean Chronologie LP last year, and it was only then that I realized for the first time in my life that (aside from the middle part) in Chronologie pt.4, the closed hihats actually don't play continuously through most of the track. So the mixing of that LP must have been clearer/different somehow for me to actually notice it for the first time ever (of course, now I notice in other version all the time but that's only because I'm aware of it now).
So for me, that's the best version of Chronologie (pt. 4, if anything).
You know, only now did I actually realize that Revolutions is getting a re-release as well.
Place your bets! Will this vinyl edition of Revolutions (since it's most likely going to have Revolution, Revolutions in it instead of the original version) actually be better than the horrible bootleg that I bought off ebay for "science" (and to make that Discogs entry)?
Sure I heard there was some kind of legal dispute over the original version of Revolutions, causing JMJ to re-do it. As for the re-issue vinyl, I doubt the original master tapes would be used, instead the CD version will probably copied onto the vinyl.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure it'll be the 1990 version of the song due to these legal issues.

Slightly off-topic: what makes you think it's a bootleg (and what makes it horrible?)

Well, that's the thing. I think it's either a bootleg or a really badly made reissue in the vein of the Sony 2014-> JMJ re-releases (then again, if this bootleg really was made in 1999 as the eBay listings claimed, that might explain it).
All this based on the sloppily copypasted "Revolution, Revolutions" text on the label on the record itself and the back of the sleeve (which otherwise appeared to be identical to the 1988 pressings), not to mention the odd hand-written "matrix number" on the vinyl itself. As for the horrible part, the record was already full of scratches out of the "box".
Not to mention the complete lack of post-1988 copyright dates anywhere on the record itself or the sleeve.
(Never tried getting the "1999" Zoolook LP from the same sellers)
