It also depends on the record deal. Some deals done allowed for the master tapes to revert to the artists ownership after 35 years - assuming the artist is on a different label by then.

My order finally arrived after the first one disappeared during shipment, so anyone got some tips for burning a 5.1 disc?

I downsized the files with ffmpeg and created a DVD:
ffmpeg -i <filename.mp4> -target pal-dvd -aspect 16:9 -acodec ac3 <filename.mpg>

That worked rather well.

Thanks, I'll try it later in the day! Also, did they really still not fix the random click in First Rendez-Vous at around 2:12? It's been present since the original release...

For anyone interested in the DR values, here you go for the CD and download. Neither of these include the 5.1 mixes, I need to convert those seperately in order to be able to rate them since Foobar 2000 doesn't play ball with the video files unlike normally. I'm most interested if the vinyl is better. Because I want, no, I NEED, that Zoolookologie remix in good fidelity!

Anyone managed to get those 5.1 files converted to FLAC? No matter what I try, the files just will not convert properly for whatever reason.

Have you tried the 'eac3to'-Commandline-Tool: https://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/Eac3to/How_to_Use -- https://www.VideoHelp.com/software/eac3to ?

For whatever reason the coding was being difficult, but I finally managed, the rating on the 5.1 mixes is terrific! http://dr.loudness-war.info/album/view/152675

Any source about who did the 5.1 mixes? Because lord, they're actually good!

Top: Zoolookologie as it is on the CD (download is nearly identical) - Bottom is the 5.1 mix downsampled to stereo with a few added DB because it was really soft as is:

Hi everyone,

please could someone explain, how to burn the 5.1 mp4 files to DVD or BluRay, so I can play the disc (like the AERO one, which works fine) in my Onkyo 5.1 system? Hints on the burning program and some quick notes on the settings and whether DVD or BluRay would be great!

Thanks in advance!

Hans

Then I audit a DVD with a menu and all, and voila, a nice 5.1 DVD

This is "remastering". That's pretty much opposite to "fixing".

So remastering films and removing hairs, dirt and scratches is fixing and not remastering?

We're not talking about "remastering films", we're talking about "remastering JMJ's albums"
