Jote wrote: Thu Dec 17, 2020 2:29 pm Yup, agree with Dr_Jones 100%. Only the effects are live. I can't stand that "Ah" with syncopated delay.

TBH I wonder why this needs to be live at all. They could've recorded his entire "performance" and just replay it. He doesn't need to interact with the audience so nobody will be able to tell anyway and at least there wouldn't be f***-ups like that Ableton metronome last time.

Also, there should be a "screen" behind his avatar showing his actual face + torso to humanize it a bit. Because ATM it's grotesque - the environment is fake, his avatar is fake, there's no audience, there's no audience noise and reactions, it's just odd. Doesn't feel like a concert at all.
Yes, agree. I think the JMJ avatar looks awful. Some real film footage interspersed would be much better. I know what you're saying about that the whole thing could all be 100% playback - the visuals, the audio, the lot - but I do like the effort made to produce on something that happens in real time. Also, in this instance, there is a real venue in the sense that it's Notre Dame, if only a digital version. That "reality" needs to be treated differently to just a fake backdrop.

Ridwello's Oxygene 2. Pretty interesting, although I'm a sucker for a triplet rhythm and this one doesn't have it.

Aaaand that's how we know it's a playback show.

The version in the teaser seems to be slightly different (Mellotron choir at the end).

I'm really surprised that we are not hearing Ridwello's work and that JMJ outsourced it to... Youtube? Odd, to say the least.

Of course it's playback, what else would be honestly? And he is proud of using other's remix or cover or whatever you call it. I was really into this version of Oxygene 2, even having been aware of it's Ridwello's arrangement, with having Jmj as "supervisor". I thougth that is the case. But I was OK with it. And now, it's not even jarreteam production.
I don't know what is happening or not happening with him, but it is seemingly somewhat of a crappy, cheesy and cheap artistic direction. Using a fan cover, it's a cheap chioce. Still anything that jmj doing himself musically?

Yeah, of course it's playback, I was saying this more in the vein "in case anyone you still had doubts about playback, this is your proof".

Anyway, there MIGHT be some supervision/additions from JMJ/Ridwello as the version in the teaser does not sound exactly the same, there's more stuff happening, there's a mellotron at the end.

hmmm

"Hello friends, i want to thank you all for your precious support.
Jean-Michel Jarre himself will release it on his next album, and will be playing it in his upcoming shows, the bad news is i have to take down the download link, and shorten the track to a preview length until the album release.."

Next album, ey? Interesting

That leaked rehearsal (which is now unavailable) contains a VERY SHORT (and I mean short - around ONE SECOND) snippet of a new Oxygene 4. Sounds pretty meh, very much EDM and of course does away with the triplet rhythm as well :(

In other news - just shazamed the new Oxygene 2, lo and behold it says:

Artist: Jean-Michel Jarre
Title: Oxygene 2 (JMJ Rework of Kosinski remix)
Album: Welcome To The Other Side
Label: Sony Music Catalog

So this would confirm what I suspected - it's JMJ's rework of this remix (as it DOES sound different)
