Being an audio dummie, I'm just curious. How do you notice/confirm/know such a thing?
I listened to the MP3s that have been leaked, and that track sounds like someone has tried to mask repetitive vinyl crackle. There's a constant bassy distortion sound in the background. More likely to notice on headphones than speakers.

It will be interesting to hear what imperfections (if any) are revealed on the studio masters quality downloads.

I haven´t heard them yet, and I´m waiting for my CD to arrive first before I give it a shot (although I will be downloading the Studio Masters). But it can also be the fact that the disc wasn't ripped properly, that can also cause some slight side-effects to ripped files. My Chronologie CD Rip for example misses all the mids but highs and lows are excilent, it sound very weird, but quite enjoyable actually

I hope my interests in Jarre's music is not waning. But after 30 years, I just cannot get that excited about this release :|

Well then the upside for me is that I know Jarre about a year now, although I´ve been listening to a couple of his tracks since I´m like 5 :P

I have it the same way! The rarities are too old and weird for my taste.
The essential, well isn't that just the same tracks we have already?

The news about 96kHz/24bit though, THAT I like :o)

I have wrote a message here for about 4-5 month ago, complaining about why Jarre is not a Pioneer anymore, doing hi-res audio and HD video, now it finally happends :)

...who knows, maybe a 3D BluRay of the world tour is just around the corner alså :)

Judging from the youtube-Clip, it's a highly improved sound quality. Sounded to me, as if it was recorded presently with the instruments from that time.

Indeed. I would have preferred decent and well done 5.1-editions though, just like Depeche Mode did with their back catalogue. But since 5.1 doesn't seem to really make it on the market, high audio resolution is highly appreciated, too.

If everything goes well and JMJ is content with it, I highly expect the Monaco concert to be released on DVD/BluRay (however, I have heard no rumours about that yet, it's my personal conclusion, after the other DVD/BR-release has been canceled). It's a mega event, it is a world wide known occasion, so it can be easiliy marketed, and it will be filmed for and shown on TV anyway. I don't expect Monaco to be done in 3D, but who knows.
Concerts attendend:
1997 Oxygene Tour, Hamburg
2002 Aero, Gammel Vra Enge
2005 Space Of Freedom, Gdansk
2008 Oxygene Live, Hamburg
2009 Indoors, Koblenz
2010 "2010", Berlin
2011 World Arena Tour 2011, Berlin
2016 Eletronica World Tour, Hamburg

For a replicate nerd like me, some instruments isolated in the surround channels, would be perfect, but I dont think the music experience is that great - too messy somehow

I can't imagine a better place for such a concert, so a BD release from that could be nice.
...i am just pissed that the release dates for these concerts are so close to the event. 3 month is not enough for me to plan a small holiday in southern France :(

Funny... I have to agree with you. I actually cancelled my pre-order. Just totally uninspired by this. Feels like an excuse to not release a new album and extend an already long-winded tour.

I mean he couldn't release an amazing package of Deserted Palace remastered as CD1? Really?

And then for Essentials instead of tracks found on the standard albums why not the Zoolook Remixes from the 7"/12" along with Happiness and La Cage, Palewan maybe, etc. So it would be real rare singles as CD2. Of course, I'm just echoing what others have already lamented. Well we do get Happiness is a Sad Song. But honestly, Freedom Day is less annoying than that track.

If it were those two CDs then hardcore fans would snap them up and feel like Jarre did one for the team, you know.

Now, The Essentials and Rarities just feels like a catalog sampler. For whom? Jarre, I'm sorry but I don't think you're picking up anymore casual fans. But it will look so perfect on the Merchandise table at your concerts this fall, wink wink.

It just becomes insulting after a while. I thought he got his ultra ultra remixes and remastered sound out of his system with the release of Aero.

Oh wait, it's the master tapes. You can keep polishing a turd and guess what... It's still a turd. Not the music of course, but the release. Just could have been so much cooler. In fact maybe he could one up the artist, Basquait, and actually poop on a vinyl record and auction it as a one-off, because even that would feel more inspired than this release. And you know that crazy Jarre collector in Spain will buy it.

At least the box is pretty nice-thumbs up Jarre.

What really killed it for me is the latest video with his "engineer" talking about all the work they have put into this release. And now I will show you the remastered waveform of my ego. Oh, Sorry, it was just gas.

Hey, here's a novel idea. Why don't you put all that work in remastering, I dunno, the entire Deserted Palace LP maybe? And how many late nights and espressos did it take them anyway. I think they say that it was so much hard work, just so you don't feel bad about buying most of the same tracks for the 3rd or 4th, or 5th time. It's going for a good cause anyway, to pay for Jarre's hairdresser. Because at this point that's the biggest statement I see him making.

Ok, I'm just kidding about the hair but c'mon this remastering stuff gets really old. It's what retired artists do when they have nothing else. Let's tweak the old catalog. Put out Director's cuts. F@&k up Star Wars. You know what I mean.

The worst thing about this is... I'll probably end up buying this gawd d@mn release anyway and just hate myself in the morning.

JMJ, Mike Oldfield, Vangelis, maybe Enigma, Kraftwerk, others.......

Should we really expect huge miracles from these - anyway great - artists?

JMJ at least touring. Though.
