Just how "live" were the shows in the Agora at Radio France over the weekend? If it was just JMJ playing solo, then does he need a band for the touring show? I'm not opening up the whole "does he play live?" debate again but just curious how the VR experience could be translated to a more conventional show in arenas and theatres. Which visuals from the Oxyville universe would be taken into the real world as a backdrop for the live performance? Will the Electronica era 3-D screens be used again? I think the set up with JMJ + 2 (Claude and Stephane) added a visual dynamic and made it feel much more like a live show.

Go here

https://www.francemusique.fr/emissions/ ... chel-jarre

And press the big "play" button next to the "Carte blanche à Jean-Michel Jarre" title, then fast-forward the player 35 minutes - more or less when the concert started
This is right.... the concert is from 35 mins 04 secs until 1 hour 23 mins. Either side of that are interviews and other tracks by way of introduction and context. The link is still active as of 11.48am UK time allowing people to replay the concert. It's really good :D

With "Oxymore", Jean-Michel Jarre gives new life to the sounds of Pierre Henry

This weekend, Jean-Michel Jarre presented at the Maison de la radio et de la musique his new creation: "Oxymore". A work in 11 movements conceived from a precious legacy, that of the sounds of Pierre Henry, a pioneer of electronic music. Announced innovative performance which turns out to be above all brilliant.

MIchel Geiss chimes in on Facebook

Auto-translated:

"Last night, despite spending the night on the plane, I accepted Jean-Michel Jarre's invitation to attend his "Oxymore" concert at Radio France's Agora.
I had no idea what I would hear, only that it was a tribute to Pierre Henry. Not necessarily convinced in advance by this concert, I feel all the more free in my opinion.
I admit that I was particularly seduced by this performance, for several reasons: the quality and richness of the sounds, their overall management in space, and the originality of the work.
One of the particularities of the concert was its multisource broadcasting, in sound immersion, at 360 degrees. with excellent audio quality. The spatialization was very well managed.
As for the music itself, it was a tribute to Pierre Henry, whose electroacoustic compositions made of mixtures of sounds and noises marked his time.
Far from all melodies, the concert was above all a link between compositions of the "sound object" type in the field of electroacoustics and today's electro.
No "general public" approach but a set of parts whose abstract content rubbed shoulders with electro elements.
I found this mixture particularly successful and rich in creativity, a kind of bridge between his years at the GRM, Zoolook and his more recent approaches.
I was also impressed and in awe of the amount of preparatory work that went into achieving such a result.
In short, a very good surprise from someone who continues to innovate with an energy well above the average."

I share this point of view but have you noticed at the very beginning of the radio broadcast, after the introduction of Jean-Michel Jarre, when the applause ends, we can enter a female voice which seems to say in french "j'aurais tellement aimé qu'il puisse le voir en entier". Which can be translated into English as: "I would have liked so much that he could see it in full". These words precede the crackling of a chimney fire, which contrasts with the drops of water.
At first I thought it was a presenter who had not cut her microphone :-)
But it looks like it's from a movie. What do you think ?

I thought the crackling fire is the start of the whole thing, I can't hear the voice on any recording though? Is is really soft in the background or can you clearly hear it?

sorry, you are right...
I just realized that my recording is corrupted by an interfering signal. Curious but I went through my tv box and it seems that another channel was also recording at very low volume.... Strange but it's experimental after all ;-)
