Hello all,

I'm Marnix from Holland, living in Zwolle (that's near to you GeeJee, are you going to the conservatorium in Zwolle by any chance?). I studied art and photography and graduated from the art academy in Utrecht in 1995. Been working in photography and publishing till this day. But..synthesizer based music is my first love. It goes back to the first time I heard oxygene as a 7 year old: very new and very exciting. Years later I realized I was really a fan by wanting all his records, and, ultimately, go to his concerts. Jarre also inspired me to want synthesizers of my own, because of the imaginative powers he could extract from them. He was very good at that. Also given the fact that even on this site there is still debate on what equipment he used to do the things he did/does. Anyway, I was inspired, and I bought synths and made music. And I'm glad that this forum is what it is; a relaxed place to meet synth and /or jarre fans.

And if you made that happen Geejee, thank you very much:-)

Yep, the forum being here is my fault, I guess... welcome in here ;)

No, I will not study at the conservatoire of Zwolle, my parents decided to live in this part of the country and I disliked it from day one, so next summer I'll move back to Rotterdam :D

Anyway - have a great time :)

I hope you have a good time studying and staying in Rotterdam in the near future, some good friends of mine live there and it's a nice city to live in, very stimulating.

I'll tell you a little secret Jett, I was about 14 when I first heard Zoolook and already a Jarre fan, but you know what I thought first hearing it? I thought that the chords and the mood of the album were brilliant if only those weird irritating vocal samples had been left out :)

I grew up thank god, for a long time now I think it's one of his most brilliant and innovative achievements.

Heh, it's funny what a difference your age makes to certain music. :P I obviously didn't understand music making at that age, and I just loved all the sounds he was making! (got my imagination going ;) )

I didn't understand music making either at the time and I think I was expecting another "instrumental" album, the way I knew and loved. All in all a bit short sighted, as I look (in kind) at my younger self.
