3 years to some could mean anything. Maybe, it feels like 3 or 4 etc years... But that is what he said at Amsterdam Dance Event 2014 - 3 years - might not be exact. I mean, he did not say to this day.

And from page 36 of this thread:

Summary of topic:

5 Feb 2010
Up to five o clock in the morning he had filed yet in the studio on a new album project with which he intends to build on its greatest success to date, the synthesizer classic "Oxygene"

6 Feb 2010
Jean Michel Jarre is filmed in his studio working on a new track:

13 March 2010:
Jean Michel Jarre writes about his new track "Adiago" on his blog. This song is played on the tour.

23 March 2010:
"Other collaborations are to come on my next album, still with Vitalic, but also maybe with Sebastien Tellier, Air, Moby, Daft Punk, or even the Chemical Brothers."

6 May 2010 it is mentioned:
During a promo visit in Tours, he mentioned fall of this year [2010] as period of new album release.

11 Oct 2010 it is mentioned:
He was asked after the Cardiff concert when the new album would be out. He said it had been delayed until next year due to the recent losses he suffered in his family.

10 October 2010:
"..new music will be recorded on-the-road in the first half of 2011. It will be a verry analogue-oriented album.", Dutch Metro newspaper

10 December 2010:
20 Minutes site mentions JMJs progress on the new album:

JMJ in contact with Sebastian Tellier and Vitalic

7 Jan 2011:
Trax magazine interview: the next album be halfway between experimental electro and Gothic film music.

13 Jan 2011:
JMJ on Facebook: "Hello everybody, thinking about you all and working on new ideas..."

8 jun 2011 it is mentioned:
synthmann wrote:
(...) is there any news on when Jarre's real new studio album will be out? Is it still expected in 2011?

Rather 2012. It was stated so in a swiss webzine.

July 2011: Essentials & Rarities is released

14 sept 2011:
From an Hungarian interview: "But I have already prepared some demo recordings for the new album, so I hope that will be released early next year."

6 dec 2011:
2(!) albums are planned for next year, JMJ mentioned in a video interview on internet.

21 feb 2012:

26 mar 2012:
JMJ on Twitter: Composing - Working - Recording - Visualizing - CREATING...

[somewhere here it is known one album will have collaborations, the other is a "personal" album]

17 May 2012:
Red Bull Academy Q&A: 2013 for the two new albums.

12 Jul 2012:
Pierre Garnier (AeroProd):
the album is finished now by JMJ

19 Jul 2012:
Music has been registered to French music corp SACEM (Edith Napias)

15 Oct 2012:
Jarrelook.de:
Naturally we asked Dominique also whether he now only pursue their own projects, or even collaborate with Jarre. Further cooperation, he is apparently not averse, but Jarre currently working on his new album, and if this is done, you'll see. The work on the album would last very long, as Jarre here with a lot of people working together and a lot of conversations and telephone calls were made??. In fact, already some time ago announced that Jarre would produce an album together with a number of French electro-musicians. Accordingly, these are apparently not a remix album, but actually is a studio album of new music produced Jarre in collaboration with other artists. Dominique estimated that up to completion still could pass three or four months and then it might be published in March just to match the planned concert in Perth.

7 Nov 2012:
David Muñoz, from Fairlight Jarre (Spain), was in Alcalá and take some words with Jean Michel Jarre:

PISCES: There's a first question that interests us all your fans. When will your next work be released? You have spoken several times on this issue and we are impatient to know something.

- JMJ: (Silence ... look at Louis Hallonet... more silence ... look at me ... smile ... smile more ... I get a second hug!)
- JMJ: Next question?

6 Jan 2013:
A French article mentions one album is "far from complete".

2014: Jarre signs contract with Sony, remasters of old albums are released. A huge list of names is build with artists that collaborate with JMJ on his new album. It will not be released in 2014.

One of the reasons could be that as you become older the years flies by faster and faster. But I guess the main reason is that he has simply lost count. 3-4, 7 or 9 years it doesn't really matters that much as fewer and fewer people even care anymore. :pwned:

Ha-ha-ha that is just so typical! :robertdugenou:
Just put on some pink noise waves and make a traditional transition over to the next track.

I'm surprised he gets any music done with all these events he attends. That is time consuming in itself.

I think he don´t meant not to bring a song to end. I'm sure he meant that it is difficult to switch off the creativity at some point as it flows and flows. I know that too. One thinking about every idea after, will always find something new, possibly better and thinks that it could still be better. As a perfectionist you will always continue to seek the addiction of optimizations. This is very difficult to find an end. I suspect he has thrown a lot of Songs over the years in the dustbin.

Yeah !!! I know about this....As you get older, it is strangely enough the phenomenon .. The time feeling disappears. It may also be because today everyone is so overloaded with tasks, input, etc.
