I don't mind reading dutch subtitles, it doesn't distract me from the actual movie. I have no trouble watching an english movie without subtitles either. As long as it's not overdubbed in another language like our lovely german neighbours tend to do. Cause when I do watch that kind of stuff, I feel like I'm watching a tell-sell ad... :P :D

Well, in fact they are dubbed, not overdubbed*! :P

Hm... German dubbing isn't too bad (imho the best in the world, because the Germans are not the only one who dub movies). In fact the German dubbing industry (it's a really huge business in Germany) have very good personnel (usually actors) and here we have a big market for it. I don't want to judge whether it is good or not, because I prefer to watch the movies in their original (English) version, but however sometimes I can also enjoy a movie with the German dubbing.

* I don't know whether overdub means that, but do you know that in other countries (usually eastern Europe) they lay only one or two voice-overs on the original sound track? That means, you hear the original English dialogues in the background and in the foreground you have the translated dialogue, usually spoken from one or max. two persons and not "synchronized" to the "lips-movements" of the actors (as in Germany for example)! That's imho really rubbish!

Well, whatever you call it, I hate it! It's like watching a tell-sell ad.

What is a tell-sell ad? Of course you hate watching movies with German dubbing - you are Dutch!

Those stupid ads on tv... selling things that are supposedly superior to any of their kind. Those are usually badly overdubbed.. "Hey Mike, look!, it really works! ~ aber natürlich Dieter, du bist ganz krank im kopf ~ hey welcome Bob! Look how fantastic this is, it changed my life!" etc :P

Aaaah... now I know what you mean! But hey, these are really baaad (over)dubbed! But somehow funny... they try to explain us about an hour or so the overwhelming preferences of a cheap-made skillet which costs about 100 Euros... :muahaha:

"aber natürlich Dieter, du bist ganz krank im Kopf"

Do you refer to a certain German called Dieter?
