I paid £214.00 from House of Fraser. A British top quality store which sells designer brands e.g. clothes, cosmetics, lingerie, electrical appliances, cutlery etc.
Just tested it on my carpet. Boy can it move fast and the suction very powerful. My carpet is very very clean now.

I suppose I could have bought a less expensive hoover but Dyson is the one for me when it comes down to it. You can really tell the difference compared to other brands of hoovers on your carpets. It does the job when it comes down to it. Sometimes you have to pay for the best.
