Yeah, so do I - I don't think a blues-kind of guitarist à la Gilmour would be better. Look at Marvin - it was fun just for 2 times, but his sound didn't really fit to JM's music IMHO

Rondats not the worst guitarist, but then he's not the best. He certainly likes plenty of reverb and feedback. As its already been said, its down to taste.

Magnetic Fields 1 has never been as good as in CPLT, especialy the rehearsal version.
I've been to a few Rondat "solo" concerts in the past few years and all I can say is that whomever says he can't play guitar is a complete idiot...
(this doesn't mean you have to like his work on JMJ tracks ofcourse, that is a matter of taste... I like it though ;-)
