Well we do know that Jean Michel single handedly played the bass sequence, the all the drum tracks, the sequences, the effects, the strings and pads and the leads well before the advent of workstations, for all the tracks featured in that first amazing live Jarre concert.

He truly is an electronic music wizard.

Face it - it would've looked stupid if he would've played everything from backup tapes except the lead melody... I mean - is there much more you can do with one pair of hands?

How typical... I went to Place De La Concorde this week, but it was full of preparation stuff and seats for the Bastille day

Hmm for this theme that,as few years ago I was with concert of Jean it in Paris square and with pulling down Bastille .

Does anybody have copies of pre-concert publicity? For example, newspaper or magazine articles, printed flyers, posters or anything like this? There must be something out there that announced the show. I can imagine fly-posters being stuck up around Paris on walls or buildings, featuring the Oxygene and Equinoxe cover artwork and a date and location. There must have been some sort of publicity strategy, or one million people wouldn't have turned up!

I am aware the show was officially called "Paris: Blue-White-Red" and was an initiative of the Mayor of Paris office, at the time the incumbent was Jacques Chirac. So, did the mayor's office produce all the pre-show publicity? Is it therefore a matter of public record?

(Neat link: WTTOS was also a Mayor of Paris initiative, incumbent at the time being Ann Hildalgo, 42 years later)

I will dig up some info on that. I know there were some newsitems on national TV before the concert, but those might be of the day itself, right before the concert.

In the meantime I found some Dutch newspapers at my work with one especially. A one page article on the concert and a mention on the front page, published on 17 july 1979
