Thinking about it, when (pre-)orders open up, I might as well get it. I have a 4k drive that can rip the disc to the hard drive and add custom subs.
Very curious, never seen it before, so why not?

Shouldn't PC BD drives not really care if it's 4K, or not? Or is it harwdware dependant? After all, it's all 1s and 0s on the BD disc.

4K blu-ray is to blu-ray, what blu-ray is to DVD and DVD is to CD. Yes, they all work very similarly, but they're not forward compatible. What makes 4k blu-ray different is that the layers can be 33GB a pop. Regular blu-ray drives have no idea how to handle those, since regular blu-ray drives expect 25GB a layer max.

OK, I suppose my BD drive supports multilayered ones. Also, regular BD films can also be double layered.

Interesting. So 4K uses 33GB per layer? But aren't 33GB layers used in triple layered discs with 100GB, wile regular single and double layered ones use 25GB per layer?

4k Blu-ray can be: 25GB (though, I doubt any 4k film has been released on this), 33GB (as far as I'm aware only as a layer, I've yet to hear of a 33GB disc), 50GB, 66GB, 100GB (though I guess this would technically be 99GB) and 128GB. Though as far as I'm aware, 128GB hasn't been used commercially. They are available, but no company has used them for film releases. But my regular blu-ray drive still will not read any of the 4k 50GB Blu-ray movies. From what I gather, in part because of the layering difference and in part because the security of BDXL being different.

The main take away is, even though they're pretty similar, they're not actually the same format. I've once tried to actually understand why, but the technical detail go way above my head.

I have LG BU40N, according to spcs it should support up to quadruple layer BDs read and write.

That'll be a BDXL drive, with that one you should be able to read these.

Nice, that was actually the cheapest 9 mm slim laptop drive I found and so far it works great, I ave to do BD dumps to SSD to watch and extract audio though because of AACS...

I just got this set in my mailbox. Mine is number 207 of 3000.
Image quality is fantastic. Sharper than this is not possible, I've not seen it this good (well probably when I saw it in cinema a few years ago).

Extras consist of
- newsitems from the week the movie was out
- commercials from 1973 (both the newsitems and this are odd; they have nothing to do with the movie, but I think they've added them for context)
- trailer of the film.
- Les Granges Brulees: Un Tournage Difficle (2005): documentary on making the film with interviews of people involved.
- A Propos D'Un Film: Les Granges Brulees (1973): short item made in 1973 about shooting the movie

There's some beautiful photos from the movie included.

The booklet has some extensive information on the movie, articles from back in the day about the movie. It even has scans of the Jean-Michel's soundtrack LP and the back of the single-sleeve. Nice.

Sadly, no subtitles for the extras. I would have liked to have some French subtitles at least. I read French beter than hearing it.

All in all, a great packaging if you like the movie. For a Jarre-collector, it's okay-ish.
