The track with Yello... Wooow, I love it! The voice have some "Leonard Cohen" in it. Nostalgic! Can't wait for to hear all the tracks complete. Come on May 6th!

Listened to those samples. E1 was better.

A little early to tell, particularly from 30sec clips.


These sound decent :

Electrees Hans Zimmer; What you want Peaches; Switch on Leon The Orb; Circus Siriusmo (a bit Les Rythmes Digitales) ;

Why This Why That and Why Yello; The Architect Jeff Mills; Walking the Mile Christophe; Falling down.





Eight things :

1. Over use of 16th arpeggios as with Electronica1: is generic Electronic Music (JmJ was never one for such) .

2. Over use of 4/4 beats : is generic.

3. Soul2Soul rhythm & bassline : there are far more different beats & bass lines, shows lack of broadness ....
Train & River bass, What you Want beat.

4. Euro trance cheesy : Automatic Part 2 Vince Clarke.

5. Auto tune cringe : As One Primal Scream; Giselle Sebastien Teller.

6. Electronica2 appears more one paced than Electronica1.

7. Élan, mystique, subtlety of JmJ missing : except on Zero Gravity, Heart of Noise.

8. Electronica 1&2 are not a journey into 4decades of EM : they are a modern EM fairly generic.

Interesting points.

2. I'd agree. We basically got just one "12/8" track (4/4 with triplets in reality), "Glory". "Suns have gone" is in 6/4 which is quite interesting. "Question of Blood" also has triplets in it. But that's it.

3. Not sure what "Soul2Soul" is, but if you listen carefully I think you'll find that the basslines are not so basic - for instance the bassline of "Gisele" is a bit more complex than "meets the eye" (sic)

7. I think "Switch on Leon" can be added to this list; "These creatures" perhaps?

8. It is a journey in a sense that JMJ collaborated with musicians from different periods; but you're right that the *music itself* is "modern".

It's a logical progression from E1 - it's even further removed from Jarre's oeuvre than ever. This could be an electro-pop album by anyone on the scene ...

After JmJ reaches 75, no longer touring, we will receive classic JmJ.

Not Oxygene, Not Equinoxe, timeless though they are
instead modern elan, melancholy, mystique, subtlety.

JmJ stays in the moment. This keeps JmJ vitalised.

This could be an electro-pop album by anyone on the scene ...

Near 70year old to make music that sounds from  a 20year young hipster is quite an achievement.
Let's place ourself in shoes of a 70year & typical 20year Millennial ....

Intentional from JmJ to showcase he is in the current moment to produce modern EM.

What i find interresting is when ripping the peaches song to mp3.
it says Oxygene II in the id3 tag.... weird

It's been 18 years without the classic Jarre. Since 1998 he has done some weird stuff. Collaborating with that guy in "Electronic Night" and those rappers, then Metamorphoses (which is the first "Electronica" in my opinion), then Teo&Tea and then these things.

I wonder about the setilist in his tour...

Yes it's not the old Jarre style, but let the poor guy have some fun. He's done so much of the same stuff that I honestly I find this to be really enjoyable regardless.

Edit: My personal response to Geiss:

I understand finding some of the Electronica Project to be lackluster, I find this track not particularly great along with a few others on The Time Machine.
However we did also get: The Train And The River and Rely on Me on that album. And while I find most to be fine tracks. Those two, and in particularly Rely on Me, I find to be real Jarre-esq.

The man is nearing 70 and has had an amazing carreer for the last 40 years. 30 of which are, let's be entirely honest with ourselves, mostly the exact same shtick done many times over. So much of that music has a certain style and I absolutely love it, but I'm really happy that he's trying out new ventures also. Sure T&T was a disaster for the most part (Vintage is a really amazing track though), Sessions 2000 was weird but had a nice structure, Geometry of Love has some really nice lounge music and Metamorphoses gave use some actually really good songs and musical pieces even if it was a departure of the norm.

Each gave us something we never heard before or even since. They may not all be gems, but nothing really has been since Zoolook if you ask me personally. That album was such a ridiculous high in terms of basically everything that even Chronologie and Oxygene 7-13 haven't reached that high. But that doesn't make that music any less.

Even if it's not classic Jarre, it does have a place to exist and has a right also. We can judge it on its own merits rather than judging it as the Jarre of ol'.

But that's enough of me!
