To be really honest this set is now boring, and JMJ (although a brilliant artist) needs to kick himself up th'arse.
Why boring ? Only a minority of fans have picked tickets for two or more concerts...

Oh no, I just remembered.... The CYMBALS!!!!! Arghhhh!!!! If there is a god, please take those cymbals far far away from Mr. Jarre and let him look COOL again!! People are laughing... This is NOT a circus, it´s an ELECTRONIC musical performance... sigh...
Oh well, let´s just hope for an all together good concert

I remember not so long ago mentioning those damn enoying cymbols and getting jumped all over in the process. Now it seems others are starting to get hacked off with them. So I'm happy to not be aloan on this.
Join the "ban the cymbols" march
I may be wrong, but I would like someone to prove me wrong, but I am sure JMJ has a compulsive disorder. He HAS to be doing something with his hands and having those cymbols are just a further extension to it. I don't think he realizes just how damn stupid, pointless, highly enoying and distracting they are. There is more to life than banging about on a pair of cymbols to add that "live" effect.

Lots of older released Titanic books (for research).

This is in my opinion not a concert for us fans only, but for a wide public, then I expect him to play his greatest hits, like oxy 2 and 4, magn, fields 2 and equinoxe 5 to name a few examples, seems a bit odd to leave them out for a concert like that will be in Monaco.
Good point, very true. Need to change the concert intro though. Something like CPLT intro would be a treat (and CH6 is on the list)

We are in a subject about the Monaco wedding... What's the point of discussing the cymbals again (Years and years later) ? Do you realize you are doing the exact same thing you are blaming JMJ : doing the same thing again and again ?
Plus we will
never know what's going on in Jean Michel's brain...
These discussions are going nowhere...

Where I agree with Robi, Daz and much others is that putting the same tracklist for the Monaco concert on the Ustream network along with the 10-10-10 concert would give great case to those non-fans who criticize Jean Michel as never renewing himself...

Jean,
I didn't bring up the topic, I merely posted my comment. And we are ALL entitled to voice our opinions regardless if some don't like them.
As for your comment saying these discussions are "going nowhere", stop me if I'm wrong, but are we not on page 15 of this topic. That's a lot of pages of "going nowhere" discussions.

The money raised by the broadcast of the wedding of Albert and Charlène will go to charity.

I'm excited for the Monaco concert but if he simply performs the same tracks with the same arrangements from the 3-year old area tour then yes, I'll be dissapointed. I can't speak for other fans (casual fans or not).
I've been thinking this may in fact be his last "large-scale" outdoor concert. Not nessasarly of his own choosing but the possibility is there. His peak was Moscow in 1997 and he hasn't attenped anything like that since.
If it's true he didn't "have time" to work on new material and improved arrangements then his days as a creative force and innovative artist are well behind him. Someone of his caliber and influence doesn't have much room for excuses. You either do the work, or you don't.
Monaco presents a unique opportunity to inject much needed energy and enthusiasm into his work. If I were him I WOULD add a live band, I WOULD play as much live as possible and I WOULD play a mix of classics and lesser known material to create a unique special mood and event for everyone involved. Something memorable and not comparable to past shows.
But I WOULD NOT use this event as a way to simply play the same songs and arrangements from the past 3 years....that would be a huge mistake.
Personally, for an artist of his age, I think he's just stuck in his ways and the end result is often stale artistry. He can very easily fall back on his past accomplishments and songs rather than take the time to experiment and innovate. For example, I think he simply doesn't want to bother with adding a "real band" and creating new arrangements around that. Too much work and effort for him. Why should he create a new song for the iconic laser harp when old Rendezvous will do just fine?
Consider that his last MAJOR musical effort was Metamorphoses; that was over 10 years ago. Since then we've had little side projects (Sessions 2000, GOL), compilations (AERO, Essentials) and one very weak album (T&T) that he admits was a mistake. Overall, since 2000, his creative output has been rather unimpressive and he simply doesn't seem interested or inspired in terms of new musical ideas and direction. Think about it for a moment: only ONE major musical effort in the past 10 years. (I love Metamorphoses BTW). That's a serious decrease in output. In America, we call that "going down hill".
All opinions expressed are my own and I'm entitled to them. I hope I'm proven wrong but until then..
Peace from the USA..

Most of Jarre's attitude is the consequence of several record company break.
In example, he was working on a *real* Jarre album project in 2006 called "Saint Exupéry". But the music company (Warner music) told him he should go in a "David-Guettaesque" way... That gave us Téo & Téa he made in three months time...
Now Jarre has to deal with personal problems (divorce with Anne) and diverse activities (Producing, Jarre technologies, UNESCO, Author rights lobbying, and so on). He has less time to deal with his studio album, which he wants to release on his own with no backing record company.

For the record: I don't expect Jarre to be as creative as he was in his 20s, 30s and 40s; but I do expect him to challenge himself and his audience.

You're going to be disappointed - at least with the tracklist ...

This is good point and I agree.
