But no tracks from Chronologie and Oxygene 7-13.... that's the most weird thing.

To be honest, it would have been better to release only the compilation of pre-oxygene works, because CD1 is waste.

(well, at least for me, because I have those songs already.)

but I will buy it, the CD 1 can continue it's life in the case..

In a few months, FDM will release Rarities (only) as a vinyl LP, so why dont you wait until then and dont complain about the first CD :-)

Well, I don't have the player for those kind of records, so I'm going to buy the cd.

The 'Essentials' CD has been flagged for some time now as a compilation and as such, not really aimed at the fans per se. Once I heard the name change from 'Memories' to 'Essentials', I could see what was happening. I never expected anything else from that CD. The 'Rarities' CD is interesting for the most part.
FDM are holding back on material for future releases I'd say.

03. Erosmachine 2'58 - As Expected
04. La Cage 3'23 - As Expected
05. Chanson Des Granges Brûlées / 2'45 / Song Of The Burnt Barns - This aint Rare, the CD got released a couple of years ago...
06. Windswept Canyon 7'39 - The More Deserted Palace the better
07. The Abominable Snowman 0'52 - The More Deserted Palace the better
08. Deserted Palace 2'22 - The more Deserted Palace the better
09. Le Pays De Rose / Roseland 2'01 - Again, this CD got released a couple of year's ago...
10. Rain Forest Rap Session 1'400 - The More Deserted Palace the better
11. Black Bird 3'06 - I freaking love this piece!

14. Les Granges Brûlées / Burnt Barns 3'13 - And again, this CD is already released, what's rare about it!?
15. La Cage Vitalic RMX 4'16 - For the love of just... Why... Just why!!
16. Erosmachine Vitalic RMX 3'45 - For the love of just... Why... Just why!!
My reaction to the playlist pretty much
Plus screw that, Ill be getting the vinyl record, those things are exactly what you need for these kind of track's (ignoring the final two tracks though)...

And let's hope they are holding back for another future release, it's somewhat dissapointing to be honest... The original 3 Rarities CD were somewhat lacking quality, but atleast they got the tracklist almost right on first release, and improved on the other two (although yes there were a couple of mistakes through out the releases)...

22-11-16: Heineken Music Hall Amsterdam
01-07-25: Palais royal de Bruxelles/Paleizen Plein Brussel

I'll be buying that set just for one track ("Happiness is a sad song"), which he wrote for a 1969 exposition at the Maison de la Culture (Cultural House) in Reims. It is in fact his first public outing, before La Cage was released in 1971. Nothing is known about this track, so it's great that this is on the CD.

Great, finally Vitalic's remixes get released, but the tracklist of the first CD is useless, and the second CD... oh my, I expected better but heh, this is JMJ after all, so not really surprised...

Rarities is a bit disappointing, IMHO, I expected more tracks like Happyness is a sad song.

Too many tracks are taken from les Granges brulées and are hard to call "Rarities" a such, and those Vitalic's remixes are totally off topic (maybe a bad joke ? Freedom Day would have been a better choice in that case !!).

Agreed. A CD/vinyl single release to "promote" the album with the Vitalic remixes of La Cage would be more appropriate. But we're not in the 90s anymore so we have to accept singles are dead.

Sport en Fete, which I posted a year ago, would have fit better on this CD, as well as other unreleased tracks.

I still hope for either a rarites boxset or expanded releases of his albums containing studio out-takes and such. But as we have been waiting this long, don't think that'll ever happen.
