Sounds great with that encore. Good to hear that he allows himself to do something a bit different, as in Hungary :)

Thanks for your awesome report Suzane and Petr... 8)

I enjoyed the intro song once more and it's great to hear he did an encore version of Oxygene 4. How did it differ from the original? Or was it mostly the same?

I think the concert could have really been longer. Everyone knows it is Oxygene Tour and therefor 1-2 more tracks from Oxy 7-13 would have been fit quite well. The most negative reviews and feedbacks were because of this...Oxy 10 and 8...belive me, these would be great yet.

The more popular upbeat tracks the better!!

Competent synths for Oxy 10 and 8 should be used then.

Still everybody has had the chance to read about what this tour is about. There are always reviews made by folks who expected an indoor version of the La Defense concert :P
Oxygene 12 has been critisised a lot... how is it now? Well except for the bass

I had quite a well to read what this tour is about. But this does not mean it could not have been longer with mentionned tracks for example...I did not expect indoor La Defense cause i knew what kind of concert i will go to.
But some fans here also waited for longer performance and let's say : its true, with a 15 minutes encore would be needed. Claude said Oxygene 10 live has been in JMJ's mind for some time...so we (and JMJ) had / have the chance: lets play Oxy 10.

I know that Oxy gave Jarre the household name he just deserves, but I do often wonder if he gets a bit tired of playing the same thing over and over again, and so often, such as these tours show. I realise he has to like playing them and the tour is not just down to Jarre himself, but it would be like us playing the same record over and over again. Its fun while it lasts, but you do need a break - maybe one reason why he took a break with this years tour.

With most tours, any artist will tell you its not the playing thats tiring or boring, its the actual travelling between dates, and all the usual crap that goes with travelling internationally, and setting up night after night You can't beat that adrenaline rush of being on stage, even after months and months of playing it,its becomes easier as your less aware of what your playing as it becomes second nature, one of the reasons why so many artist become depressed after long tours they find it hard to adjust to not having that buzz before and after coming off stage. As with artists in the game as long as Jarre, its more about the fun factor than money or promotion, infact Jarre and co would have it relativly easy to the people who are actually behind the scenes.
A break from the tour, like Jarre's done is usually harder to face the second time around, rather than a longer stretch in one go,all the logisitics and heartache of the first phaze would be fresh in their mind that its harder to have the same enthusiasm after such a long break, although the batteries would be refreshed its harder to forsee doing it again..

You can see the strain in Jarres face on some of the pics from the first phase, lack of sleep and constantly living out of a suitcase, in and out of hotels out of routine, not seeing family regular,He had a constant Bags under the eyes look, althought from these latest pics he looks freshened up.

Can you imagine the people behind the scenes and rigging night after night, who have an even harder job....
still I'd undergo that strain to be on Tour with Jarre

Hi,

I am just back from Prag. The concert wasn´t as good as the concerts I saw in smaller venues like Marigny or Alte Oper. The concept of the show was originally conceived for a more private atmosphere which you don´t have with more than 10000 people.
The light-design was similar to the previous concerts, very restrained but powerful. But what disturbed me a lot were the two additinal screen left and right to the stage, showing live images from the Musician. They didn´t fit to the primarily light-show because of the cuts. It was to hectic and the eyes were always focused on the screens.

All in all it was (as always) worth going to a Jarre Concert (no. 16 for me..)

To Kanta:
The merchandising was the same except for the Shirts, they had the actual tourdates with November as headline.

The safety reminded me on the checkin on airports with your bags being x-rayed! So it was impossible to get anything inside the Arena. Therefore I can only share bad mobile photos with you. As we had VIP tickets we were able to see parts of the rehearsal, so don´t be irritated if there is no audience!
