I'm very happy to learn than JMJ will play for Israel birthday. Jarre 's music and concerts are symbols of peace (Concert for Tolerance) and he works for unesco so it's logical. I hope all will be good, it would be a very big message for the whole world. I think Israel is a country wich need to be recognized by this kind of happening it change after all the images of war. Maybe Jarre will talk about Herzl and Rabinin this concert, I hope so because it would be fair. I think it's a big happening very important in history because Israel is the lonely democracy of this region and israeli need messages of peace after all they had to suffer with hamas and hezbollah.

You're right about them being democracy, but that doesn't make them innocent. Btw, Hamas was chosen through democracy as well. Don't you see it's very dangerous to pick a side in this conflict??

For me Hamas is not democratic so I can't compare the israelian democracy to the Hamas even if Palestinians have voted for this party the politic system is less sure than in Israel. You can compare election of the hamas with FLN in Algeria and see the consequences.
Israel must exist it's fair and normal even if Israeli made errors, noboby can give lessons to this country because all the countries have made errors (see France with colonialism, Vichy, Genocide in Rwanda, etc).

Of course I agree Israel have the right to excist and celebrate their anniversary, but the question is if it's smart to pick a side in this conflict!

Having said that I hope you ALSO realise that for every israeli killed in terror attacks there are 4 Palastinian PPL killed by the israeli army or jewish individuals seeking revenge.

We should not ignore that fact IMO, and again (I can't say this loudely enough) I HATE TERROR...

The whole conflict is complicated but can be blamed on the acts of Western (more correctly, British) Imperialism and how poorly the situation had been handled back in the day. ...Wait, that's not correct, the conflict has been there since the Jews were exiled from Jerusalem during the Roman times, and hell, probably even before. It's something that will probably never be solved, mostly due to religious reasons, but also because the area hasn't seen a non-violent act in just about 2000 years. The Crusaders slaughtered all the Muslims during the 1000s, the Ottoman era came to an end because of the Brits and what can be seen in the Middle East are beastly, vile and greedy acts when bunch of people attack bunch of other people with vague reasons, but most likely don't know the reason of the conflict at all.

Most Israelis and Palestines are probably good people and what appears on the news is just the work of some lunatics like Hamas or Army of Islam etc. or some Israeli soldier who decided it would just be dandy to cap a few Palestines just for kicks. Same thing what the Americans have done in Vietnam and Iraq (My Lai massacre, Abu-Ghraib, Gitmo, etc.). Ruanda? Nazis? Soviets? Iraqis? Stating the obvious, Israel is just one of those places on Earth where humanity is driven by beastly AKA violent acts. Hell, lately it has been demonstrated that the Palestines don't even get along themselves, so wiping Israel out of the map like a certain other lunatic stated about two years ago wouldn't solve anything.

So to actually be on-topic, I think Jarre should hold his concert there, fight back against the risks and promote the values of tolerance and human rights. If it succeeds, well, it would be extremely grand and hopefully have some impact on the area (doubtful). If something goes wrong, well, the organizers no doubt take this into account and it just remains to be seen if the security's strong enough and if some lunatics pay no attention to the concert's actual meaning and do something despicable.

My post was not really targeted on your post I just said it as it can be risci and it shouldn't be something we shall use to learn new things about what is possible or not.
I don't like the thought about a concert in the shadow of fear. If Some trained security heads can say it is safety, I think the concert should definitely go ahead.
