Listen from 47:17

I felt that same thing, that we are hearing maybe a old recording from China or from those years made maybe by Perrier

That O2 outro is a torture for me, I was unable to listen through. Even he starts IR2 with a "bass drop" and then continuously throughout... this kills me.

No, that's not it. Probably a different recording, maybe a new recording just for this tour, maybe a 1982 album outtake.

One must not be trained musician...
nonsense
He, anyway, trained enough to alter and modify the way he wish.
You can pretend all you want he's playing wrong notes, out of sync and stumbles on purpose, just keep me out of this, thanks
Yeah, he can never win, ever.
Keep that in mind the next time when YOU complain about something :)

This was one of the reasons I bailed on the tour in 2011, they were trying to hard to play live and they were - shall we say - not great while doing it. The less he plays live the more people are happy. That music was never meant to be live anyway due to its nature.

Off Topic
To calm my bass drop battered nerves and to reduce my Adiescar withdrawal symptoms, I listen to some TD videos , with Hoshiko playing on violin.

I guess that photo answers the question regarding the first news about the gig in Helsinki about how the TD concert with JMJ could also have been a part of TD's own tour - they were on separate stages all along ;)

(And the TD portion wasn't a part of JMJ's performance after all)

Agree. Out of my three cases (2008, 2009, 2010) Oxygene tour was the worst for the same reasons (and FOH, apart from synth detuning).

Good :)
He is an electronic musician, not a classical musician. He has never been some amazing piano player and never even claimed that he is. He fell in love with music by messing with tape recorders as a kid and listening to jazz, not by listening to classical music. He immediately wanted to experiment with noises, already in the 1960s.

He is Jean-Michel Jarre, not Vangelis. At the end of the day, JMJ's strengths are closer to the way of let's say Orbital than to Vangelis or any of the "classical music on synth" artists. Fans in the 70s were mislead by Oxygene and Equinoxe. They thought that's the type of music JMJ wanted to do regardless of the instrument, that he is some "composer Maestro", maybe a piano virtuoso and not an electronic producer who can manipulate sound in a very creative way in a studio. Oxygene, Equinoxe, even Magnetic Fields partly (though it's already noisier and more industrial), Rendez-Vous and half of Chronologie sounds the way it sounds because that was the sound in those times and JMJ created his version. That's it, he has never really cared if his latest album has a that classical music atmosphere with its melodies and vibe. It was just spice for him, not the meat. Again, he and Vangelis are fundamentally different, way more different than most JMJ fans admit it. They just had a period when they accidentally did somewhat similar things. That's the truth.

I didn't mind Oxygene Tour. It definitely had its charm, it's a special album, it made sense to me to do try to play it live as an experiment and to celebrate the 30th anniversary of Oxygene. I liked it. The show in 2009 I attended was pretty good. The concert in Katowice in 2010 was a disaster - the only time I took someone to a JMJ concert, I was embarrased AF at her "WTF is this" - she's no trained musician by any measure, but she's not a member of the Church of Jarre either, so she didn't have to pretend she liked it :)
