I don't get how this can be a re-recording of the original album.

How is he going to re-create the VCS3/AKS effects in exactly the same way, for Oxygene 1 and 2?

The concert sure, the sounds will be different but the CD has to be a remaster - nothing more.
Without faith nothing is possible. With it, nothing is impossible.

Maybe a stupid question:

Isn't he doing a re-recording because Dreyfus owns the copyright of the original OXYGENE recording but will not be able to release this new re-recording.

Maybe that is why Jarre chose to re-record as opposed to just remaster--so he is taking care of two things for the price of one!

...And I wonder if he will do the same for Equinoxe next year (since those were the two most popular selling albums).

I sent a mail today to EMI Hungary what's up the situation with this, still no response.

Again the "old song" ? :
Our struggle in vain, JMJ's management will not be better...(?)

Doubt said the point. Look at this :

And this:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/s/ref=nb_ss_...Go.x=19&Go.y=7

So Oxygene within 1 month, Mike Oldfield by the way is mentionned together with his handsome release date in January!

Amazon.fr...?

But who cares Complete Oxygene from very complete Francis Drefuss ?

Techically, we have a new Jarre album out this November. If Jarre sat down and re-did Oxy from scratch due to copyright, then it is a new album and not a rehash/remaster.
Jarre concerts attended - Destination Docklands 1988 - Paris La Defense 1990 - Europe In Concert 1993 (Manchester & London) - Oxygene Tour 1997 (Birmingham)

As posted by Robin Hosgood on the SPACE OF FREEDOM Forum:

ok here's the situation (which im sure ive explained before in the past)

FDM own the ORIGINAL RECORDING copyrights to JMJs back catalogue up to Metamorphoses

JMJ owns the ORIGINAL COMPOSITION (score) copyrights to his work

FDM can only release the original recordings on CD (including 24bit remasters) hence why the latest Complete Oxygene has "Original Recordings" tagged slap bang on the front of the cover

JMJ therefore has to re-record NEW recordings (aka the new Oxygene coming out) or re-work (aka AERO) in order to release his own material. Live versions of the tracks, which are usually re-worked, come into this also

the Oxygene 4 you hear on MySpace is from the re-recorded version, but bear in mind he's not "done a mike oldfield" and made the album sound new and fresh using different instruments, otherwise that would be a re-working along the lines of AERO. He's stuck to the original compositional material and scores and just re-recorded the entire album. So although it may sound the same (which it should, because it's just re-recorded), there IS a slight difference as you can tell there's a slight more depth and bass to it if you listen carefully....

Ok, good to know about the new Oxygene CD, I can tell I'll have to pick them both up now.

A new album in 2008? I don' t know I can believe that. Jean Michel promised us a lot more the last years.

But maybe.... because of the new record company, jarre need to release an album within one year who knows...
