I find First Rendez-Vous to be the most moving (and it's a far better track imo)

Yeah, it popped up instantly. What I find curious however is that when people started posting their concert bootleg recordings of Oxygene 17 they were immediately blocked by Sony Music on copyright grounds, yet the entire tracks or even albums remain...

Listening to the original album on CD right now. I'm kind of surprised by the sound of the remaster, I expected a lot worse but it just sounds average. It's not terrible, the 2014 remaster was by far the worst that was every done to that album, but it's not really good. It just floats around the level of sounding presentable but nothing to write home about. Though the bass and highs could've had bit less of a boost. The tingling sound in Oxygene Part 5 is grating on my ears, it's just a bit much...

Also my records aren't perfectly centered, but not really off either. Seems to be just fine going by how it looks however. Can't test them or the opening of Oxygene 10 however, can't find where I stored my pick up

Edit: There an error on the first CD at 4:37/4:38 where the audio very shortly drops on the left audio channel!? What the hell guys, it's a forty year old album, how do you screw this up!?

Oxygene 6, right? Yeah, I noticed that on the Qobuz FLACs.

Yup in Oxygene 6 it happened. I checked the track in Adobe Audition to check if it was just an audio drop which could've been fixed rather easily, but it seems the entire beat was removed. It's clearly not an edit made to tape because that would've meant that it would've been missing on both sides. No it seems deliberately removed/filtered out. It's way too 'clean' to have happened otherwise. Seems that's the machine was given free range to remove any flaw and it wasn't checked in the end.

Edit: Just finished listening to the new album. Very, very, very different from what I had expected it to be because of Oxygene 17 sounding very much like the previous albums. Unlike the rest of the music which sounds absolutely nothing like it. Felt reusing the short segment of the original album on Pt. 20 a bit useless because it's a really strong track as is. Will probably listen to it tonight again.

Edit 2: Anyone have a high resolution image of the two covers? The new one is easy found at a really high resolution, but I sadly can't say that for the original and the reworked 7-13 cover. The highest is couple hundred pixels wide and tall which is rather small...

Oh well. I bought the box set just to honor the 40th anniversary, I never actually intended to listen to it except for Oxygene 14-20 (I'm fine with my older copies). It's just a damn shame that the publisher did such a poor job honoring it - off-center vinyls, distorted sound (Oxygene 7), audio dropouts (Oxygene 6), my not-so-transparent vinyl. Sad.

I just checked the Qobuz 24/96 release and the same dropout is there. It's not a missing beat, more like the audio glitches from left to right for a fraction of a second.

Yeah I'm not entirely sure how I should word it. The actual beat is fine, but the drum beat is missing. It seems to have been filtered out entirely.

Best way I can describe it is that, for a fraction of a second, the sound dips on the right channel, and then as it's recovering, it drops on the left channel, and then recovers.

My thoughts on O3 after listening to it several times - I love it. I'm not going to deconstruct it for the sake of using the deconstruction against it. The point of the album (from JMJ) was "what if I were making Oxygene today?". It's not up to US but to HIM what it should sound like. I absolutely love it.
