And also the 2011 remaster - but it's only a "dropout" on the left channel there.

The 2011 remaster were available in 96kHz/24bit on Qobuz and were also mastered by David Perreau.

This makes the whole "remastered" thing even more laughable than it already is.

Edit just checked and yes the error is also there in the Essentials remaster. That was five years ago when it was first there and it's still there?! David... What the hell are you doing!?

I'm sorry, I just can't get over how bad this "remaster" is - Oxygene 7-13 is littered with random pops/cracks, that I can hear even through laptop speakers, not to mention headphones, old 5.1 basic Creative speakers or Yamaha HS50M studio monitors. It is especially evident for instance in Oxygene 9 between 2:40 and 2:50. I thought maybe my CD was not ripped properly but I checked it against other rips/download versions (against the 48kHz/24bit as well) and it's the same. I've been careful to stay out of the "remastered" territory for many years so this is all new to me.

Bon anniversaire...

I thought the clicks and pops were from interference from my new wireless headphones, but if you say it also I guess it's not. I have to ask, but how did this happen? The thing I did find really noticeable in the remaster however is the loudness and audio clipping. It's really bad...
Jote wrote:(Srsly, is he deaf?!)
Probably doesn't care. He's getting his pay check regardless. I wonder if these errors ended up on the vinyl as well.

I have no idea how that happened. Funny thing is, if I want to experience the "remastered" version I can just pop the 1997 edition and crank up the equalizer - it's even better, because this way I won't experience those pops/crackles.

Glad I didn't buy the CD-only Trilogy. Now *that* would be a waste of money, considering CD1 and CD2 contents. With the box set at least I got the coffee table book and a poster. And possibly a decent sounding vinyls (although the off-center reports make me question that) that I can convert to digital at some point.

Elf wrote:The way Oxygene 9 stops is just plain weird. It's like someone just suddenly turned the sound off. It ends just before the intro to Oxygene 10.

After turning to side B, Oxygene 10 just starts straight away, just like it does on my CD version (the screaming theremin like sound). That kind of works, actually. No exra sounds that I could hear.
In other words - it's a copy of the CD edition, where part 9 and 10 fade into each other?

Out of curiosity, it doesn't sound like this than (the original vinyl is this)?

Very sad reading. Well I'm listening to the Trilogy flac 24/48 through my Senheiser Momentum in-ear plugs and compare it to my Oxygene 1 mfsl CD ripping in wav (highest quality) wich I did simply with windows media player.
The difference is stunning. The Trilogy version of Pt.1 is basically infected with background white noise and clicks all over the place. And the treable is cranked up way up there.
Not to mention Pt.9. Listening to this beautiful, epic piece of art completely destroyed by clicks everywhere is just so heartbreaking.
I just wonder how could JMJ rely so blindly on this jackass "Dadwater" or Perrau for so many years?
Why can't he make the remastering by himself the old fashion way? It is so bizarre I can't even see the problem of making a perfectly fine remaster.
Even if I'm half deaf by tinnitus I could've made a better job. :P

Missing drum hit in Part VI, clicks and pops through the entirety of Oxygene 7-13 and Oxygene 3 being ridiculously loud. Vinyl isn't much better and seems like a straight digital rip and are off-center for some.

I adore Jean-Michel, however that he keeps letting these things slip through and ends up blaming Sony in the end is terrible. Take some responsibility as the actual owner of the records. Put your foot down, say no and don't budge no matter what. If Vangelis and Mike Oldfield have full control over their older works why not him? The albums sound worse than they've ever done in the past fourthy years and it's amazing that this is the anniversary of one of the most celebrated electronic albums ever.
Pardon me but when has he blamed Sony for the extreme loudness? I must have missed that.

It's what JMJ said according to Elf who published an interview with him in a Norwegian newspaper. ;)

While true for Rosetta (aside from those three errors in the main master which persists in all versions of the album), don't forget the quality of Vangelis' "own" 2013 remasters. : <

I noticed them too! I thought it was the player and my headphones at first, and then I compared it with the originals.

Strange: I do not hear any pops/cracks in Oxygene 9, even not between 2:40 and 2:50.

I'm listening to the 48kHz/24bit Trilogy-files from Qobuz, on a Mac with Audirvana+ via good Headphones.

I guess maybe not everyone is able to hear them. I checked my own CD rip, other CD rip and a 48/24 copy. They are present in all of them.
