When jarre did Houston, America was topping the word. Now, it's asia. Jarre shouldn't care that much on north America and concentrate on china, india and maybe brazil. That's were the big audience should be right now.

Jarre has speachless music enabling him to conqueer new audiences, what's the point on performing in the us except making an hommage to his father, or pleasing some fans (not that much) The Houston point of comparaison is a deadly poison to anything he'll attempt.

My advice to jean Michel : move on to china! :peacemaan:

Disagree. The last time Metallica were going to play in India, the concert got cancelled -there were riots, those indians went nuts. No comments about China, with their ridiculous government except for maybe Hong Kong. Brazil and Japan would be good, but I'd still prefer him play in North America and make a huge show once again and I'm sure people would come if advertised properly.

Interesting point here...
Elf wrote:(...) The reason for not playing outside of Europe is that he simply can't sell tickets, unless it's a special one off. (...)
Something like the Moogfest, very elitist ?
Considering that 90% of touring acts like Rhianna, Britney Spears and so on have nothing but sequenced music and loads of backup singing on tape, I don't think a US audience would mind at all.
If it takes nothing more than girls playbacking and showing off their breasts while moving around like pole dancers (Spears, Gaga, Rihanna, Perry, Pussycat Dulls and all other cheesy stuff), for the people and press to praise their music, that's a shame, but that's just the way american "producers" consider the 90% audience is worth  The less they sell the music, the more undressed the girls will get.

I get mad at all this sh** which has nothing common or so few with music anymore.

Just a short remark.
Early this year, I was told - by a reliable source - that oversea plans has had logistical issues. Well I don't know if thats still going on, but if it's up to "only" the logistics, then Jarre might not be the man of having no chance. He was visiting New York at end of 2009, looking for promoters, he was even visiting Madison Sqaure Garden.
On the other hand, it tells enough he has not been getting promoters since then...

Not to be too off-topic, but Gaga does play live. The difference here is that Gaga has got musical talent, most of the other girls mentioned in your post have not.

Oh this miming debate is confusing. Could it be that JMJ knows his live playing isn't that great but the perfectionist in him doest want mistakes in the performance so me mimes? Wasn't moscow played totally live?

About the miming, it suddently struck me that he also plays very wrong notes in the original music videos of Oxygene and Equinoxe.
Who played on the records?? :D

Seconded. 'Nice' to see the "Michel Geiss recorded Oxygene and Equinoxe" sentiment starting to reintroduce itself after so many years, though.

Haha, never heard that rumor before, but it is weird that JMJ has SO many difficulties playing even shortly after he made the songs :)
Some people used to speculate that JMJ didn't compose/produce his own songs by saying he used "shadow writers" like Geiss, Rimbert etc. While the majority of his albums do in fact use "artistic collaborators" (as seen in the liner notes) the idea that he was just a puppet for someone else's musical creations is just crazy.

It does indeed happen (see Milli Vanilli) but not for JMJ. The closest thing is maybe the controversy over who truly created and produced the music for T&T...

This is not question of difficulty.

Note that it's not he the only one who used to playback....but others ones aswell, veeery often.
