Production comprises 125 people from the Jarre side

-50 people from Rezo Production in Morocco

-50 people to build the stage

-Show will be filmed by Alphacam in HD.

-The week after the show, it will be post-produced and show will then be offered to TV's for broadcasting

-60 Moroccan artists will participate :
The Modern Arab Orchestra from Casablanca
the Philharmonic Orchestra from Morocco
a traditional choir
the Choir des Azilees
soloists (oud/flute/arab violin)
percussionists ( darboukas/ tambourines )
Gnawas,
dancers

-Musical director : Claude Samard

-18 semi trucks have already taken all the material to the site

-The stage, front of dunes, will be surrounded by 9 vertical screens "the doors of the desert" (some 14X 7 meters/ others 8 X 5 meters ) on which images will be projected in HD, related to water/ nature

-At the back of the stage, in the middle, a balloon 10 meters diameter,
20 meters high will project images from a projector inside the balloon

Gnawas -- Morocco's Musician Healers
The Gnawas (or "Gnaoua" in French) are black African musician healers who live in Morocco. It is believed that they are able to use their music to heal bodies and minds.

The Gnawas are said to be the descendants of slaves from West and Central Africa. However, they enjoy a very special status in Moroccan society because people believe in their musical power. When someone feels sick, he or she often goes to see a Gnawa so that whatever evil spirit that makes him or her sick can be driven away by the Gnawa's healing music.

It is believed that music played by the Gnawas can evoke ancestral saints who can drive out evil, cure psychological ills, or remedy scorpion stings. Such music is very low-toned and rhythmic, involving chanting, hand clapping and the use of cymbals, drums and string-instruments. In a Gnawa song, one phrase or a few lines are repeated over and over. Sometimes the song can last several hours non-stop and create a deeply hypnotizing effect on the audience.

In recent years the Gnawas and their music have been "discovered" by the West. In their attempt to modernize their music, these musicians also begin to experiment with combinations of their traditionally spiritual music with similar Western genres such as jazz, blues, raggae and hip-hop.

Every year in June, Morocco's "Festival of Essaouira" (or the "Gnaoua and Musiques of the World") celebrates the art of Gnawa music as a pure musical expression of Moroccan culture, without any religious or therapeutic implications. The festival also invites famous musicians from all over the world to participate, exchange and mix their own music with the Gnawa music. In 2004, more than 200,000 local and international visitors participated in the festival.
