A tip for those of you looking to go by train, book your tickets here - TRAIN TICKETS Check the price of a return and then compare it to the price of two singles, quite often the two singles will be alot cheaper than the return. I recently booked a trip to Blackpool using this site, a return ticket would have cost £105 where as two singles cost just £30. I know it doesn't make sense but that's the way it is. Just one thing - book now, the nearer the date you want to travel the dearer the ticket.

Well, it sure looks like it's going to be that way that there will be a few people less going.. thanks to 'the price of the tickets - even for some of the bad seats' why?
Well, anyone in the UK who wants to go that is a pensioner, is claiming IS or IB or JSA can't do it.... the price alone for ONE ticket is more than one person can claim in a fortnight! (Including travel and a cheap hotel room overnight)
With the prices of gas and electricity rising all the time and that reflecting back on grocery shopping too.. unless a magic 'fund fairy' magically parts with heap loads of dosh, there's no way I can get into the RAH.... (not legally anyway )

So, unless someone sees sense and wants to put 'bums on seats' at the RAH, the prices have to be more favourable than they currently are... (especially for the duration)
Yup, you'd think this was some really remote part of Eastern Europe and not the UK...

So, unless the price can justify the duration, no can do........

Buying a ticket for such a show like this looked upon as a "perk". We are (afterall) the little people. They never take into consideration such things as you mention. . . And why should they. It's them who is out to make a name for themselves, oh, and money

Just reading an interesting comment Jarre made for EiC back in 1993:

"It isn't as bad as before because before I was doing free concerts so you have no paying audience at all! So now I'm improving. This is more a kind of experience, like when you are doing a movie or a painting. You don't know the result. However, this kind of production is not made to make money, it's obvious".

The Oxygene concerts are nowhere near the same scale as EiC. So is Jarre simply trying to make money with these shows? Kind of making up the bank account after Teo & Tea? !

Maybe. But it is OK absolutey with these concerts!
He needs to produce his next album!

A multi channel recording and Blu-Ray release of the concert would be half as expensive to buy compared to those "one-in-a-life-time" tickets.

The ticket prices will not be determined by Jean-Michel Jarre but by the promoter. Jean-Michel will recieve a flat fee for one gig or several depending on if he is using one or several promoters. It is a sad fact that music fans will always be subject to price hikes. 7 years ago I went to see the Eagles on tour, the ticket cost me £35, which I thought wasn't too bad. I saw them again 2 years ago and the tickets were up to £70. The tickets for their run of shows at the O2 arena in March are up to £100. No thanks.
This is down to the promoters. They know that there is a possibilty that the gig won't sell out, so they hike the price to cover any possible short fall. You do the maths, lets say they only half fill the RAH, it's still a lot of money. And if it's a sell out, well that's even better.
In short, if you have never seen him before, go. It truly is a once in a lifetime-tell-the- grandchildren type of experience. I saw him on the Oxygene tour in 97. I will not cry If I don't get to see him this time.

On the other hand the promoters won't reach those people thinking "this could be interesting to see", so with a high price for the tickets, they will only reach the hardcorefans and therefore less chance for selling out.

Here's an interesting snippit that i found about the RAH - 'There are 1,270 seats in the hall that are privately owned by individuals and companies whose investment allows the old mausoleum to function without public subsidy. These owners are entitled to attend any event without notice and are under no obligation to release unoccupied seats for box-office sale.'

By my reckoning that's approx' 25% of the tickets dealt with, and if they're front row....

It's in the Mail on Sunday 2, page 95 (thanks to Kanta for pointing this out!). Just all of you with orders know that me and Kanta have now purchased all of these newspapers (my bedroom looks like a newsagents!) and we will be sending these out throughout the week.
