JEAN MICHEL JARRE / Deserted Palace (1972) Listening Party
May 1, 2025 at 6:00 PM GMT+
Transversales Disques proudly presents the first official LP reissue of Deserted Palace, a studio album written and performed by Jean-Michel JARRE in 1972 during his time at G.R.M. (Groupe de Recherches Musicales).
"It was a crazy album, totally homemade, with rhythms I created in my student room using minimal equipment. At the same time, I incorporated electronic sounds taken from the GRM when I would sneak into the studios at night, having stolen the keys.
It’s a pirate record in every sense of the word, foreshadowing what I would go on to create later." JMJ

Are there any interesting details on the inner sleeve? Les Granges Brulees had some

No, nothing... it's a black sleeve with rounded corners.
Also, it's clearly written "Iraqi Hitch-Miker", both on the disc and on the back of the sleeve... not on Bancamp site

This is a reissue identical to the original. Transversales decided to keep the errors present on the original cover.

Yes I notice that but it's not true for all : the fault is not on the B-side label of the original but on the new edition yes and besides all the titles (side A and B) are grouped on the A-side label, the B-side exclusively featuring the Transversales Disques logo.

I appreciate that this may be the case, e.g. making an accurate replica of an original, but I think it's daft to carry over what were clearly typographical errors first time around. Take this opportunity to correct these things. Record labels are constantly remastering the original sound for re-release, so why not “remaster” the artwork too?

The vinyl arrived today. It looks good, the sleeve is hard cardboard, just like the Granges Brûlées LP. Haven't played it yet.

1906 just pointed me to an interesting detail on the the front cover: it seems they've used a "larger" image compared to the original cover:

Would be somewhat interesting to see what an AI-extended version of the original looked like and if it'd match the new one
