The lead for Chrono part 2 (or was it 4?) was quite obvious a playback.
It's not a very complicated part of the track though and JMJ compensated by adding some other sounds.

Wow

Also anyone else suprised by how well Vintage was received
Nope not surprised at all. People want to DANCE and PARTY and HAVE FUN. You can't really dance to Oxygene 2; people want a little "techno" flavor. Light My Sky and Oxygene 8 would have been hits with the audience too..

I can see where you're coming from, but JMJ is not alone. There are people who participate in this project. Do you think they volunteer to make a fool of themselves? Including Prince Albert? Is everybody involved mentally ill and obsessed with a higher commercial goal? I doubt.

It's easy to have high expectations, but why not just enjoy what he does do and accept that he doesn't do things you want him to do? Just relax, do other things also, enjoy other music... and if you can't bear this any longer, go elsewhere. I mean, you're only pooping your own party and I don't really care.

Ok, no problem Geejee. That was just my little opinion from what i saw on the tele. The music and show was ok. But this "Monaco concert" was not a real Jarre outdoor "Jarre" concert. This concert was a billion show event to make the wedding extra spectular. And Mr. Jarre agreed for this "cinema". Money, money, money.... Artistic value? No. Cash, cash, cash. The Monaco concert was advertisement for the wedding. And Jarre cashing the "little" payment.

New tracks heard? Nope, Surprising? Nope. That was not a real concert. It was fake from the 1st second. I'm not stupid or blind.

fireworks was cool, that's it. Concert overall: disappionted. Always the same........... like 1993/1994. Europe in concert was much better.

Crappy concert, btw. Just like the Santiago Compostelle concert: Crap.

When he did have A LOT of playback, presets samples et.c. The towers around the stage are pretty similar though I'll give you that.

Always complaining.

Finally Jarre returns too the Concerts he is really good at! I feeled to me as the Houston concert and Europe in Concert. The keytar solo's blew me again totally. I am fan since I was 8 years old and I am now 33 years old.

This was state of the art Jean Michel Jarre concert!

:peacemaan:

If come here to complain about playback and stuff, then you missed a bus and then it is better to leave this topic imho. This topic is about the Monaco concert and not about playback discussions and that kind of stuff.

The prince and princes were very happy with the concert.

I think there was not very much people at the concert.

Maybe 10.000 people?

Sorry for my opinion but Jean Michel Jarre is a faker(music) and faker(concerts) in everything. The name Jean Michel Jarre is just a company.

Oxygene, Equinoxe, Les chants magnétiques, Les concerts en Chine are OK. All other releases after 1981 no real Jarre anymore.
You stayed alone with your opinion, seems so.

No real Jarre after '81...even everyone deny this.

please, if you have any negative emotional problems about jarre, i think you should find another place to express your feelings. The ears of jarre fans are not the best listeners in a case like this.

Overall, I thought the concert was great! One of his best for awhile! The towers were great and the location was great! Fireworks were good and the setlist was a much needed refresh.

The only qualms for me were not really the fault of JMJ but of Euronews - the break when we missed most of Variation III and the Theremin piece and also the mixing was a bit off. I don't know about you but I couldn't even hear the chorus line on Chronologie IV! Vintage was great live but probably shouldn't have played it again as an encore. Oxygène VIII might have been better to round it off, but overall - fantastic! Just what I wished for! (Mostly because of Chronologie IV!!)

However, a DVD release may not be on the cards now seeing as the laser harp played up on both tracks - I don't think JMJ would allow that!! But apart from these really small things - fantastisch!!
