Is it just me or is everybody here ignoring the fact Dreyfus IS mentioned on the CD as owners of the work....

This is about JMJ using the original master (or a copy of it) instead of re-recording the work entirly for CD.

That seems more logical and a more common problem when it comes to sampling etc. But in this case i have understood that JMJ can record and play Oxygene as much as he wants without Dreyfus' permission. If that's the case Dreyfus doesn't own the notes, but only the original recordings. Otherwise he could have knocked Jarre down based on the AERO, Oxygene LIYLR and all live performances after the break between Dreyfus and Jarre.
So far it also seems that Dreyfus is only interested in the fact that this new audio CD smells too much of use of the original recordings, which means Dreyfus may have an interest in this as he holds the rights only for that.

It's typical with this dude. He just had to write his usual stuff like "you people are stupid" and making laugh of Jarre fans.
He used smileys this time like everybody else who writes friendly negative comments.
His posts were good to discuss, but this just kills the discussion.

That is correct. It is mentioned on both sets of the dvd and the free CD from the MOS.

In that case there is no lie.
Just lack of agreement.

Can I just point out that when I mean dvd sets, I mean the booklet that comes inside both the dvd sets and not on the dvd disc. The free cd has Dreyfus Music named on the back sleeve.

I am pretty certain that JMJ would not leave himself vulnerable to any kind of lawsuits and will cover his backside, as the meaning goes.

If anyone else had said that I wouldn’t have minded. But as it is Kubrick he makes me feel that no matter what JMJ does we will still kiss his backside. Sorry, just expressing the way he came across. :P

Anyway, I have no JMJ poster above my bed and even if I did, kissing it would mark the poster. Blowing kisses to the poster is another matter.

All the fuzz started in the "JMJ is engaged in a major lawsuit because of a lie...". The thread itself is no problem, except for the confusion about what is actually happening.
So far it seems that Dreyfus claims that JMJ just used the original master recordings, for the latest Oxygene re-recording audio CD. This came to a discussion about how the law is on this subject, and what consequences it will have to JMJ and his relationship to EMI, and what will happen now.
It seems like people have udnerstood this piece of news in different ways. Some say that Dreyfus only has a reason to care about the original recordings, and whatever it was used for, therefore he cannot do anything about re-recordings of the same music etc.
I also think people are misunderstaning eachother.
Then some start to talk about what might happen to JMJ, if he is busted in using the original recordings for this new "re-recording" of the album.
There is a discussion whether Dreyfus has the rights to the notes used on Oxygene.

Then Kubrick ends a post with the following message. It is very similar to his older negative posts just with smileys as if he is ironic. Personally I just don't think it is if you look at his past annoying posts.
Anyway this is what he wrote:
Kubrick wrote:Otherwise learn something about the law in europe than we can talk! Now it is bullshit and sounds like stupid groupie talk (It is like a fanclub of a silly boysband). Maybe that Jarre record his farts, I think some of the fans here are gonna like that "music". Some "fans  " realy don't know what they actualy are talking about.

Sorry for my language bud some of the fans here are very stupid and don't know what they talking about. 8)

PS. To all Jarre admirers, don't forget to kiss the JEAN MICHEL JARRE poster above your bed before sleeping. It is past 09.00PM now you must go to sleep.(just a joke)
I just don't think it is funny, and I don't consider this being a good way of joking. It's still like he doesn't get what this forum is about.

Jakob, yes and well said...

Problem ofcourse is that as far as I can hear about 90% of the "new master recording" is actually not new at all but from 1976... and not just any random session but the ones used for the first pressing also....

Exactly! Holy shit, this discussion took a detour. It's 100% sure that most of what you hear on this so-called re-recording is the exact same recording from '76 with minor differences, mostly just in the effects department. If you can't hear that, you need your ears cleaned. :P Perhaps you just won't believe it, cos the cover says re-recording? :P :P
