Okay, after some while I've listened to the Aero concert and realized how good these tracks actually are. Musically, that is.

It's a shame some of these new renditions (such as Oxygene 4 and Magnetic Fields 2) were neglected on the following releases.

The flute and theremin intros are still filler tracks in my opinion, and I don't fancy Aero either (Bourges 1/Paris Bourges would have been much better in my opinion), but other than that it's pretty slick and neat job.

In fact, after all these years I might finally admit that its one of his best concerts in the last few years. But only musically. I just can't get myself to watch his silly apathetic performance any longer. Not that I've watched it in ~3 years, though...

I have to give props for the awesome TV broadcasts though, it's always good to see full concerts aired.

So, opinions?

I have to say that this was a superb concert that really was worthy of a proper dvd release. The 'newer' stylised tracks of older classics were superbly done. 'Oxygene 4' was probably (for me) the stronger of those tracks, a exciting version that I would like to hear re-released at some time or other.

I wasn't there, and I have not heard all traks, but I am always pro-DVD-release of eveerything Jarre has done.

I wasn't there but it is still one of my favourite concerts, maybe also because I really started listening to his music since. I liked how many of the tracks were re-makes.
Ofcourse the theme was cool, especially the windmills. I have always been facinated by windmills.
Ofcourse it was also a concert from the country I live in

I didn't attend but have seen Video footage and have an Audio recording of the concert


Musically it was a bit Hit and miss for me,mainly as some of the renditions were fresh given past concerts whilst others were pretty bland...

For me I reckon Oxygene 2/4/12 are good even with the Oxy 2 Flute intro(even if Jarres flute playing sounds a bit random or amateurish,I still the love the Rimbert pad and the atmosphere it evokes)

I think they add more depth to the songs(Oxy 2/4) and also what evolved into the Versions on the AERO album

I didn't care much for the " 1 Korg Karma Preset makes a track"Intro,sort of loses the buildup of the Wind/Countdown effects,I like to see Jarre steam straight in with a driving track to kick off a concert and MF2 was far too mechanically rigid..No improvised playing or variation..too bland a track this version...at this point I could have sworn Jarre Must of walked off the stage for the whole track,and let the sequencer/DAT machine do the work!!lol either that or Kraftwerk filled in for a track

As for Equinoxe 7!!!!!Well say no more!!..*cough *ahem*who played that lead line..*was it you Jean-Michel* ????who tuned Jarres synth....Sack that man!! *oh you mean it was tuned correctly..never*

Everything else average,Video Footage wise,I enjoyed it (what i've seen of it,though not the full concert I may add)and its most certainly not the best effort since Jarre decided to become a Duo!doesn't really captivate an atmosphere

Relax, how good you think they are is definately an opinion , yours isn't neccesarily the right. Safri Duo are very skilled drummers and musicians. No one have ever had the same influence on such a wide group of not only the danish people. Calling them 'not decent' is too hard, YOU just don't like it. The same goes for TK who is one of the biggest producer names in Japan.

I never said it was Again i refer to Your first quotation,but from your vengeant reply it obviously isn't an advice that you listen to yourself,otherwise you wouldn't be so critical on my condemnation of them

No one have ever had the same influence on such a wide group of not only the danish people.

Calling them 'not decent' is too hard, YOU just don't like it

The same goes for TK who is one of the biggest producer names in Japan.

One hit Song in the British charts doth not an artist maketh,Safri Duo maybe big in Denmark,but Outside of that there pretty much Virgins other than a handful of european countries and I certainly Know of TKs legacy in and outside of Japan,I knew of TK long before this jarre colab due to his involvement with Kiss Destination,and Globe He only ventured outside of Japan around 97 which gained him a little more recognition as an acclaimed remixer/Producer/Writer other than that he was and still is pretty unknown other than in certain areas of Asia and still remains so only to a handful of certain circles and i dare say that the Jarre collab thing was a catalyst for it and setup for the sole purpose only" Known artist trys to make a global transition/Links with international star theme

One of his best concerts ever!! IMO that is!

It has a very special feeling to it, a concert in the middle of nowhere!! Way to go Jarre!!!

No buildings, just absolut darkness all around!! And then LIGHTS!!

And damn beautyfull skytrackers!!!

DVD!!!!!


Btw: Safri duo was f.. great!!! What an explosive and dynamic feel they gave to the tracks!!

I'm just about to load the TV-broadcasting (TV2 63min)
....maybe I'll have an opinion later on...

I think you didn't get my point, but I don't want to waste more time on such a stupid debate, so I don't want to "defend" as you call it.

It was a great concert. I was there! Ok, the flute intros MAYBE a little boring, but it was still a brilliant (and funny, at least it is looking back on it) concert.

One of the better concerts he did. (But nothing beats PLD, DD and CPLT!)

I can't really say "hit" or "miss". It was magical from the start and a little strange with only Jarre and FRimbert on the stage. The crowd is allmost in a shock state in the video I've been watching. Allmost completely silent and it gives a small idea of how CiC could have been like...
Then the rain completely poring down and drowning the whole scene. JMJ has to work a bit harder to keep up the good spirit. No laser harp...maybe due to all that water? The little orchestra and choir is doing a good job in the rain. I like Safri Duo. Maybe in some moments they were trying to hard to "steal the show" but they are very scilled at the druming. Sometimes It sounds like Jean Michel has a cold when he's talking to the crowd.
A plus for fireworks.

I remember the Swedish press wrote about this concert as "a complete disaster with to much people on a to small spot...people got hurt, the ambulance personal didn't came thru, cars were getting stuck in all the mud and JMJ was playing the same old stuff he allways does et.c.", but after I've been watching the recording I can't agree to the musical part. Sure there were some old pieces but isn't that what we, the fans allways wants to hear? Besides he is allways doing some little "twist" to the old tracks and here he's making it interesting to listen.

A very special concert and a bit strange...allthough closer to a hit than a miss I suppose.
