I just purchased the 3vinyl Vangelis box set 1982 : Opera Sauvage, China, Chariots of Fire.
Mainly because of Opera Sauvage and 20 minute exploration improvisation on Chariots of Fire.

I wish JmJ would do 20min 40min exploration in his impressionistic style :
Sampling, Musique concrete, World Music;
Music in the style of but Not copying
Oxy1 Equi2 Equi7end part;
MF1 middle and MF3 forest sequence;
Ethnicolor2 strings, Diva opening rain drops with chords n fx;
Rendezvous1 keys, Jazz as Ron's Peace, some from Tokyo Kid and Sessions 2K;
abit of Emigrant and Calypso3;
abit of WFC title track;
a bit of Chrono 1&3, Oxy 9&13;
a bit of Millions of Stars & Miss Moon:
a bit of Gol;
a bit of Oxy 14, 15, 18, 20;
a bit of Equi Infinity Robots Don't Cry, All That You Leave Behind, If the Wind Could Speak, Don't Look Back.

Variations of these Not copies.

(NO beatz).

There's 3x 40min albums of Impressionistic explorations in there.

So had anyone by chance found a store that sells the Deluxe Box Set besides the official Decca store? Seems only the CD/LP/CD Deluxe are available at other places, and I honestly don't want to order through Decca if I can avoid it...

I got my set in, doubting if I should keep it or return it for the boxset. I completely forgot that it'd arrive and was too late to cancel the order. I want that book, those pictures look so good!

Edit: comparing all the files, seems that the album itself isn't changed at all in the past year or so. Curious why it was delayed as much as it was if nothing has changed.

Oh yeah, that deluxe edition book is something! A whopping 120+ pages booklet with photos, interviews and more background information.

Yeah, I'm absolutely going for the big set, it's such a fascinating piece about how the entire thing began and ended up as a final album. Have to wait a little until I can afford it in a few days.
The album itself is pretty good, there's some really interesting pieces throughout. A really great combination of his more modern albums with opera and his old with a lot of interesting synth sounds and what not.
I wouldn't put it anywhere near his top, but it's really enjoyable overall!

Edit: Ordered the boxset and now the waiting game begins for whenever they'll actually deliver it. It's still not out, so curious when they'll get around to releasing it!

Somewhat "comforting" but mostly hilarious that these cash-in compilations still get made ;)

(Really should get around to listening to the latest album too, for that matter)

Seems like the typical RCA collection if anything :lol:
And if you're talking about Juno to Jupiter, absolutely try it. It's an absolutely terrific album from start to finish!

I received mine in the post today, absolutely amazing looking package. If you have the CD version with the booklet, it's (from what I recall) the exact same, but printed in a wonderful large format. Also, the bookmark is signed with a little drawing on it. Such a shame it's probably one of the last things the man has done, would've loved it if he went on for much longer, but alas.

Life goes on for record companies so Spiral, Heaven And Hell, Albedo 0.39, Beaubourg and Direct get paper sleeve re-released on CD in Japan (and also released as blu-spec CDs):
