I'd like to have a topic where we try to answer questions whether a release is genuine or not. This because some of the Jarre (related) releases don't feature any hints to clearly determine it's genuity. So let me make the start with pictures Christophe sent me today:

Going by the fonts used on the frontcover and the somehow strange looking polydor logo, I'd say this is not genuine.

The black strip across the top of the sleeve doesn't look right. Having said that the labels on the cassette look ok. What's on the reverse of the sleeve? Is it printed or blank?

It's white with some texts in black like "Following instruments used: ..."

In which case I'd say it's genuine. Most bootleggers didn't go to the trouble of printing the reverse information.

I don't think it looks genuine.

Jean Michel Jarre's name has the wrong font. I think it's fake.

Yeah, that, and the polydor logo seems stretched horizontally.
And is it me or is the copyright text on the tape strangely phrased?

The wrong font? Maybe, but sometimes they used other fonts!

the only genuine releases I have seen using "wrong" fonts for this release are the Argentinial LP and some cassette tape releases

Maybe it’s worth trying to contact Polydor and see if they can give an answer whether it is fake or genuine - info@polydor.co.uk
