Today I received an interesting Original version of The Concerts in China 2CD.

See Below:



Notice that the Polydor label is in RED and there is a red and black ring around the edge.

The "Inner Ring" of each disc each is printed with:
#811 552-2 01
#811 553-2 02

Respectively and both state "Made in W. Germany by Polygram" and the spine of this 2CD set says: 811 551-2

Does anyone know which pressing the above might be?

I know there is a full red label version but I don't know what the "Inner Ring" has on those discs here:

Hmmm, actually I think I have that same 2 disc´s as you show here.. If I´m not wrong I have them in my studio, so I will have to take a closer look tomorrow if I don´t forget to!

that's an interesting find indeed, although I cannot tell you which pressing this is. But I'd like to insert the pictures in my website, so could you please make me the usual scans?

as for the ref number: some spines of multiple discs releases state for instance xxxxxx-2, whereas the first disc has xxxxx(x+1)-2 and the second one has xxxxx(x+2)-2, so in your case, this would mean

spine: 811551-2
disc1: 811552-2 01
disc2: 881553-2 02

I have seen that with many other multiple disc releases, but am too lazy to dig'em all out

My gut tells me this is either a 1st or 2nd pressing. The CD booklet/cover are exactly the same as the other releases.

What is the number on the "Inner Ring" of your RED Disc 2CD The Concerts in China CDs? Can you post/send a hi-res scan of the red discs?

Okay, having compared this CD to every single edition I have figured out that the CDs above are indeed the 2nd Pressing of this CD while Digital Snake's RED Disc Edition is actually the 1st Pressing of The Concerts In China.

Note: The Concerts in China 2CD found in the 10th Anniversary CD Set are actually the 4th Pressing!

So... what with the FDMCD18110 (German version)? Is that the one that can be found in the box set?

RFA is "République Fédérale de l'Allemagne" = Germany

need to check the other things at home

Okay, then that makes sense. The RED LABEL Discs are the 1st W. Germany (and the *True* 1st Editions) of all Jarre Albums and the BLUE LABEL Discs are the 1st French Pressings.


The BIG question is: Are there RED LABEL Polydor Editions of Oxygene and Equinoxe


Hint: I have the RED LABEL and BLUE LABEL of Magnetic Fields and it follows the same pattern so I think they just *may* be out there but in very small quatities...

yes, there might be some around. The pictures I got with the red disc, I received them from Christophe Coussement... maybe he knows more..?

Probably. Then again, I only have a rather standard record player with a pretty cheap needle (i'm getting a new one since it got broken, though) but Equinoxe MFSL is the dreamiest and most percet Jarre recording ever.

... whereas the CD MFSL version sounds incredibly cold and not really that different from other CD versions of it I've heard. I think Conductor of the Masses also agreed with me on this one
