The trumpet was recorded through a PVC pipe, he told me.

Then there is not necessarily a contradiction. Jun said: "I also suggested to record my horn with a megaphone."

Both the PVC pipe and the megaphone technique could have been used. Maybe both were recorded, and only one used on the record.
