Thats interesting what Jarre does with the laser harp at 0:14, just after the bum notes, as if he resets the harp

Yeah, I noticed it too. The notes get higher after he reset it.

As the laser harp only has 9 beams, you don't get a full octave (with every semi-note), and there are more different/unique notes required for playing RV3 than the laser harp has beams.

So for playing a certain melody, each beam is set up to play a certain note. It seems that he has a pedal on the floor to switch between each part of the song (main theme, main theme one octace up, the middle part etc.).

On earlier concerts (not going to start the miming vs. live debate here) this happened automatically. For example during RV3, the number of beams changed in the middle of the song. This happened instantaneously without any interaction from Jarre.

But here on his "revamped" laser harp, he has obviously wanted to make the live playing more clear by having a pedal and visually "folding / unfolding" the harp when the beams are reprogrammed to correspond to new notes. So if anyone should wonder why the beams suddenly make other notes than before, it is visualized by the harp clearly "resetting" when he presses the pedal. That's a nice touch.

Also, I really like the unframed laser harp design. In Paris La Defense, there was too much "stuff" around the harp, and also during concerts such as Docklands and Moscow, the mirrors on top are cool, but people might think that the photosensors are up there in the frame. With the completely unframed harp (like in Houston/Lyon, Europe in Concert etc.), it looks more "magic" as the beams continue on forever unless interrupted. Of course here, they do hit the ceiling, but there's nothing there to detect beam interruptions, as that technology is all in the base of the harp, detecting light reflected from the white gloves.

He also plays some notes wrongly, on purpose, to let people know it really is live. :punch:
