HOW MUCH COST A J.M.JARRE CONCERT ?

a concert like Merzouga or Gdansk or Canarias Island or Beijing ?

Lots and lots of money. Why? Are you hoping to raise a fund for persuading JMJ to play a concert in your country? Sometimes, JMJ is known to waiver his fee e.g. Gdansk.

Even better. I would not stop at one concert though if the rate is this cheap. We could have a concert once a month.

Well, there is a rumor that Destination Docklands cost about 5 million in '88 so adjusted for inflation that would be about 10 million there or there about.

Not JMJ, but some suppliers didnt get paid due to someone going bankrupt. I dont recall who it was, maybe the promotor.

These are the numbers I recall:

La Defense: 45 million francs in 1990
Aero: 3 million euros in 2002
Gdansk: 2.5 million euros in 2005
Egypt: 10 million dollars in 1999
Europe in Concert: 20 million dollars for 15 concerts
Houston: 5 million dollars in 1986

That's me out. I can't hire JMJ for that kinda of money.

Okinawa concert of the Visitors cost 3 500 000 if my memory is not damaged

I once knew the Moscow budget. It was really big! But I cant find the numbers anymore. It's in my old fanzines somewhere, the ones I made myself in the 90s. Could have been 12 million dollars or something, but dont quote me on that.

For the indoor arena concerts, costs are pretty much the same for each concert but what Aero Prod. is being paid varies from venue to venue, obviously depending on how many seats are available. Jarre gets more to play in the O2 Arena (22.000 capacity) than in the small-ish Spektrum in Oslo (6500 capacity). What's nice for someone like Jarre is that Aero negotiates a contract with the local promotor, who then pays the agreed amount of money, and Jarre gets his paycheck even if the arena is not sold out. Typically, the promotor also pays the arena rental, security, local workers, hotels, and promotional costs. While Aero pays for the travelling crew and musicians, equipment and truck rental, rehearsals, and development (composing music, creating videos, designing effects, etc). Ticket sales income is therefore split between the artist and the promotor, usually with the bigger chunk going to the artist and/or the management, which is why big league touring is very lucrative. I bet that in 2008, 2009 and 2010, Jarre made/makes a lot of money from touring.
