CHRONOLOGIE alternate version mixed by Jean-Pierre Janiaud?

The official release of CHRONOLOGIE was mixed by Michel Geiss and Jarre but apparently there was an alternate mix of the whole album done by Jean-Pierre Janiaud? And it apparently sounds very different to the official release?

Is this version available anywhere? Was it ever released or bootlegged?

Jean-Pierre Janiaud was the guy that engineered and mixed Oxygene, Equinoxe and Magnetic Fields (along with Patrick Foulon and Pierre Mourey).

I did hear about this, but I always thought he only mixed Chronologie 8 for a single release but it was canned for some reason... As far as I know there is no release of this whatsoever, but I am interessted in hearing it some day :)

That was Michel Geiss.

But on a related note - what's so special about this alternate mix?

It's better than the original.

IIRC it was withdrawn before or shortly after the release. Nice collectible.

Yeah I know that, but I always thought that Jean-Pierre Janiaud also did a mix, which was never released unlike the Michel Geiss mix :)

I have to agree that the Michel Geiss mix of Chronologie 8 was many, many times better then the one that ended up on the album... Doesn't take away I still hate it, although it's indeed a nice collectible

AFAIK Janiaud stopped collaborating with JMJ in the 80s and he was never involved in the musical aspect.

As for you hating Chronologie 8. Well. I like it. It's neat.

I like both the album and Geiss versions. Geiss's is funky. The album version although slightly outdated in some aspects, but it was the early 90s afterall. Still, non the less, a cool track.
