Electronic music legend Jean-Michel Jarre to headline Jodrell Bank's Bluedot festival

The festival will take over the observatory from July 22-24 with appearances from Prof Brian Cox and Everything Everything also planned

The team behind Kendal Calling and Forgotten Fields have announced a new festival at Cheshire observatory Jodrell Bank.

Bluedot will take over the cutting edge science station for three days from July 22-24 and feature a headline set from legendary electronic music pioneer Jean-Michel Jarre.
Professor Brian Cox will also bring his Radio 4 show with Robin Ince, The Infinite Monkey Cage, back to the region for another live recording, and bands Caribou and Underworld will headline the other two nights.

Also on the live music line up are Everything Everything, Public Service Broadcasting, British Sea Power, Mercury Rev, spacey Californians Moon Duo, and Steve Mason.
Tickets go on sale at 9am on Wednesday, March 16 and full weekend camping tickets start at £119, with day tickets from £35. Information on standard and luxury camping options can be found on the official bluedot website.

Veteran French composer Jean Michel Jarre is to headline a new "festival of discovery" to be held under the iconic Lovell Telescope
Bluedot, named after an image of Earth taken by Voyager 1, will also see Underworld and Caribou top the bill at Cheshire's Jodrell Bank Observatory
The three-day festival, which begins on 22 July, will see science events, such as pulsar hunting and robot workshops
Observatory director Prof Tim O'Brien said it would "blow people's minds"
The festival will be Jarre's only UK festival date and will follow the May release of Electronica 2: The Heart of Noise, his 15th studio album which features collaborations with the Pet Shop Boys, Cyndi Lauper, Primal Scream, Peaches and The Orb

Oh man, this is perfect. I'm back in the UK right when this is happening!

Public Service Broadcasting too, that's awesome. If you don't know them, check out The Race For Space, it's like a Rendez-Vouz if it were a rock album :D
