A "very" short sneak-peek. :)

An around 2 min special outtake can be found at BBC 2 radio site.
Link: http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b0848fc4
and aim for 02:10:20 ;)

For the first time in 44 years (TB 1) Mike releases a newly composed 42 minutes long
piece of music made in 2 parts and a quick judge from the little I heard he really is going back to his roots again.
This is awesome ! 8)

An interesting tidbit from this interview:
http://teamrock.com/feature/2016-12-08/ ... o-ommadawn

“I saw that Jean-Michel was doing a live Facebook chat with his fans, and I went online to follow what was being said. One person asked him whether he might ever collaborate with me, and his answer was interesting. Because he said that he loved my music, but that I was too acoustic for him. This got me thinking. If someone like him believes I’m an acoustic musician, then it showed how important that part of my career has been. So with all this overwhelming evidence, I felt it would be very exciting to do a project again along those lines.”

On the one hand I entirely understand Jarre's reason. But on the other hand, Mike has done entirely electronic albums. The Songs of Distant Earth is one of his best album.

I'm still waiting for the DVD to be available on bol.com. It's strange that it's still not up, it's just the CD release...

Do they offer free shipping or are the price tags a bit salty over there?
I have a pre-order directly at Virgin's artist shop.
I hope the LP + CD/DVD will turn up before mid summer. :pwned:

I just ordered the CD/DVD on platomania.eu, which delivers to my local record store.

I'm listening to Return to Ommadawn right now and: WOW ! Very good stuff!

It's full of references to earlier work. If you like Tubular Bells, Amarok, Ommadawn, Hergest Ridge you won't be disappointed with this one.

Just buy this disc.

In the waiting for the RTO album to show up at my post office and
through a rather complicated way I found some lossless 24bit/96kHz FLACs of the album made in 2 parts (about 1 GB each).
After just 15 minutes I can tell immediately that this is a fantastic album which I'll love for a very long time. It has got that classic haunting Oldfield electro-acoustic sound that I've missed for so many years.
Listening through my new headphones I do hear some white noise popping in here and there. But overall I can enjoy a very neat sound quality in this. Thank you Mike for not quitting just yet.
