There are scheduled two new album releases on the Deserted Island Music label! The second album will be announced soon, but let's kick off with some info about the first one!
Pareidolia is the tendency for incorrect perception of a stimulus as an object, pattern or meaning known to the observer, such as seeing shapes in clouds, seeing faces in inanimate objects or abstract patterns, or hearing hidden messages in music.
On his debut album,
Däcker (alter-ego of Dutch musician Peter Dekker) associated this phenomenon with five pieces of music he improvised back in 2018.
The session's original 2-track recordings, which were done in one take without any overdubs, have been musically enhanced by Remy Stroomer for this release.
This introduction to Peter Dekker's music is just a small impression of his actual skills as composer and synthesist. The individual tracks (with lengths varying from 5 to almost 25 minutes) expose hypnotical and dreamy sceneries full of analog sounds, sequencers, bleeps and storytelling leads.
Musically, there can be recognised various links with some of Peter's inspirations in electronic music, including Vangelis, Nova/Peru, Jean Michel Jarre, Neuronium, Ed Starink, Jun Fukamachi, and a decent touch of Berlin School.
"Pareidolia" will be released on cd and as digital download on October 24th, and is available for pre-ordering from
