Berlin School Tangerine Dream from Phaedra 1974, Rubycon 1975, Ricochet 1975,
is the GrandDaddy of commercial Trance, Trance from Paul Van Dyk, ATB, BT, Armin Van Buren.

Klaus Schulze named it Trance in his 1981 Album Trancefer, then again 1988 En=Trance.
Various Cosmic Trance, Psy Trance from 1995-2020 sounds similar to A Few Minutes After Trancefer track.

Manuel Gottsching 1981 E2-E4 album is the Father of Ibiza Balearic Trance.

However the first Trance genre track as recognised by those in the know
was in
October 1988 by KLF.
A remix : What Time is Love? Pure Trance 1.
This was also the first time this genre would be named Trance.

This uses 1973 Jesus Christ Superstar Overture guitar riff (3min05sec)
composed by Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice then synthesises this riff.

Nevertheless listen to the Sequence style and sounds of the sequence in this first Trance from KLF.

Now listen to the two months earlier August 1988 Revolution sequence style and sounds of sequence.

It is pretty clear where KLF got their inspiration.

Before Revolution, KLF had a HipHop sound as The Jam's : Justified Ancients of Mu Mu
1987 album What the f is Going On
and House, Pop on
1988 Who Killed the Jam's.
1988 Burn The Bastards their first single as KLF is House.

KLF is known for their forward thinking and their assimilation of current music. I bet they've heard Revolutions when they wrote their music. I always compared the track to the 2nd part of Oxygene 5, but then in a more traditional song.

!! Wow, I never noticed it, but yeah! I always thought the intro of JC Superstar was a killer riff.

I always liked the middle arpeggio bit in Tangerine Dream's Rubycon pt. 1 since it reminded me of Revolutions ;)

Rubycon seq starts from 7min22 continues builds to 10min32 crescedo.
There is resemblance rhythmically, also a little resemblance in the notes.
That's it.

****

Rubycon 28min52 has the synth waves.
Fire 1968 num1 hit by Arthur Brown right at the end has synth waves
that 1970s Electronica Pioneers Klaus Schulze, Tangerine Dream, JmJ would put on their tracks.
Oxygene 5 end: solo over sequences is clear Berlin School influenced.

****

Berlin School first showing on 1974 Phaedra then 1975 Rubycon, Ricochet, Edgar's 1974 album Aqua
are heavily influenced by 1969 Terry Riley A Rainbow in Curved Air.

Tangerine Dream Zeit 1972 and Atem 1973 albums are infiuenced by
Popol Vuh 1970 Affenstunde album and 1971 In Den Garten Pharaohs album tribal drumming with atmospheric Electronica.

****

Thing is every 1970s Electronica Pioneers borrowed something from one another or from earlier Electronica
on a few of their 1970s tracks.
Kraftwerk were the biggest borrowers :lol2: But that's for another thread.

Rubycon is bloody brilliant! One of the few (earlier) Tangerine Dream albums I have zero issues with listing whenever. That buildup is so well done, and that entire second half of the first track is just... Oof, so good!

I guess the Kraftwerk's 'It's more fun to compute' is proto-trance track.
