For Jean-Michel's 75th birthday two German radio stations will brodcast Jarre specials:
On WDR 4 there will be a one hour broadcast on Wednesday, August 23rd at 9 p.m. (21 h CET) under the title "Legenden: Jean-Michel Jarre und andere Elektronik-Pioniere" (Legends: JMJ and other electronic pioneers).
MDR Sachsen-Anhalt will use the broadcast "Oldieabend" (Oldie Eveneing) on the day itself (August 24th) starting at 8 p.m. (20 h CET) for a Jarre and electronic music special. You can use the form at the end of this Website to send in music requests (JMJ or other electronic songs). Please only one song. Requests should be sent until Monday, August 21st 2023.

Dear Jean Michel Jarre Fans around the world!

Jean-Michel Jarre is turning in 75 on the 24th of August 2023 and this year we want to gather the Jarre community to make another special surprise.

In order to participate you simply need to do the following:
Find a Jarre t-shirt (official or own design)
· Take a picture of you wearing it (if it still fits…) in a nice setting - if possible, a place that represents your country.
· You may use an existing old or new photo of you wearing a JMJ-related t-shirt.
· Prepare some text with your name and country and a birthday message.

On Thursday 24th August and NOT BEFORE:

On the 24th August, we are hoping that JMJ will post up a birthday message on Facebook and we have a theory this will be within the context of the current Europe In Concert posts. People may remember that on 24th August 1993, he played Europe in Concert in Brussels – the band played happy birthday and the projections of a birthday cake.
Once he posts on Facebook, please comment on HIS POST with your photo, your prepared message, and the tag @jeanmicheljarre #jeanmicheljarrebirthday.

Please ONLY use this tag. Our aim is to “hijack” his post and flood it with birthday greetings!

We aim to perform the same on Instagram - again don’t forget to tag @jeanmicheljarre and use the tag #jeanmicheljarrebirthday.

Just heard a 5 minute item on Dutch radio mentioning JMJ. They talk about his career (including his work with Lenorman and Juvet), his big outdoor concerts, the influence he has on music and they speculate wether or not he will play in Paris next year for the Olympics...

Jean-Michel Jarre turned 75 on 24th August. This "elektro beats" edition takes you on a musical journey through his work and is accompanied by parts from various interviews that Olaf Zimmermann has conducted with him over the past 30 years. The topics of conversation range from early influences and album productions before "Oxygene", his spectacular concerts, the function of the laser harp, the idea behind "Music For Supermarkets", the collaboration with Laurie Anderson, preferred candidate for his "Electronica" project to on his last release "Oxymore" ... and of course there is a lot of music from all creative phases.
