Wow, interesting. Well, the JMJ part, not the Offspring part, I detest their music.
Wonder what a possible setlist would be. Will it be an Oxymore concert or a more traditional set?

Slovakia will honor a legend: He is a Guinness record holder! He will reveal how he combines science with music
The capital city full of stars! The International Festival of Science, Art and Music presented the participants of the 7th Starmus festival, which will take place in Bratislava in May 2024. Among the musical guests will be the legend of electronic music Jean-Michel Jarre (75), who will reveal how he combines science with music.
During the presentation of the program and guests, the French legend of electronic music Jean-Michel Jarre also came to the city, who announced the concert at the same time.
"The connection between music, science and space is very strong. Studying space and making music connects space with time. When you make music, it travels to your ears through space, and that takes time,” Jarre said of the connection between the two worlds. "Music is connected to science, and I, as a musician, am a transmitter," he added, adding that it is a close connection between mathematics and physics. "That's why I think this project is very good. It's about connecting music and science, through it you can understand how close or far these two fields are in life," concluded the musician.

Wasn't JMJ down to perform at the first Starmus event, on the Canary Islands? With Brian May? And it didn't happen. And then again at another Starmus some years later, but then only appeared as a speaker on a panel? Is this third time lucky?
I'd be interested to know if this is a one-off DJ-style 'live' at the Élysée Palace type performance? Or like his Oxymore showcase events? Or something altogether new and different? If so, unlikely to put all that prep into something just for Starmus, so will it be part of a soon to be announced 2024 tour?

Unfortunately I cannot get excited for this performance considering it's just going to be another 'look at me kids, I'm relevant' performance where Jean-Michel thinks he is a modern EDM artist completely ignoring his entire back catalogue in favour of his recent EDM phase/re-workings of a few of his classic hits.

I wonder how you can read this out of the very scarce information that is given so far regarding this concert. I think the announcement that the concert will be "in the heart of the city" and the involvement of a classical musician who is also director general of the Slovakian national theatre makes hope that it might be something different.

I really hope it'll be somethig different and, I agree that the inclusion of the national theatre and the 'heart of the city' detail makes me dream of something magical, more closely linked to his earlier concert performances, not the more recent EDM version of JMJ. But, as you say, who really knows at this stage?

It is not coincidence docklands came up with this. I have also mentioned this concern. Last time it was Azimut festival, where we could see a band. But after that, only JM was behind a dj set.
So its kinda time he present a band, not only miming the music, burning himself....

The concerts since Azimuth were all during and post COVID, all in small, contained places (where the surround setup of Oxymore works pretty good). Starmus looks like a festival setting, compared to Coachella probably? A DJ EDM setting might not work, but who knows? I am very interested in what it will be.
