Hello everybody,

it is with great sadness we have to inform you that (y)our long time friend Karel (Warrior Video) is seriously ill. He has medicine to stabilise his condition as much as possible for some months. But unfortunately his and our ways are about to part forever in not too long a time.

Because of the condition he is in, Karel has expressed the wish NOT to receive phone calls or e-mails directly.
Instead, please send e-mails to KARELWARRIOR@PROTON.ME .
The messages you send to this e-mail address will be forwarded from time to Karel by his family. You can also leave a message here and we'll send it to the family.

This message will also be posted on Facebook, so you can also leave a message there.

It seems the diagnosis is fatal with no chance of recovery? I can't imagine what it must feel like... Being told you don't have much to live. I'm not quite sure what to say in this case. Makes you realize how slowly but surely we are all heading in the same direction, but it's all about the journey. Doesn't make it any less tragic however.

I've communicated with him for a little bit, but not on a personal level. His filming work sure has been influential to my life. It's a time machine in a sense, captured moments in time unspoiled by clumsy editing of TV crews and the rest. I'm very grateful to him for it. I'm also glad we managed to restore and recover at least a few concerts, but sadly never got to finish the others. This must be the last thing on his mind, but if the thought occurs, I'm open to receiving the rest of the camera tapes and taking care of them/ digitizing. I'm also always available on the telegram , a place where we used to communicate.

Here's the example of his camera work and our combined effort on recovering/upscaling.

Oh no, my condolences. :( I remember various mentions of Warrior Video bootlegs when I got back into JMJ in 2003 (and first got into JMJ bootlegs for that matter), and even helped Karel out with some Finnish subtitles in 2009. No matter what happens and how long it takes, my best wishes to him.

My sincere condolences to his family and friends. I met him a few times at fan meetings. He was always a nice and friendly guy. I nearly bought all of his concert videos, they were done in a very professional way. Rest in Peace, Karel!
2023 is really a dark and sad year...

On Friday we went to the cremation ceremony where Karel's sister did a small speech. She said she was very impressed by all the reactions and emails they got from all over the world. So thank you, people, for all the love and sympathy.

Karel from Warriors Video ceremony - tracks played by Jean-Michel Jarre are Oxygene, Pt. 1 and Souvenir de Chine (Live). What a lovely tribute to a great Jarre fan.
