Le Mans Sonore organized from January 20 to 28 will offer a hundred appointments and will welcome an exceptional sponsor: Jean-Michel Jarre whose electronic music has traveled around the world.
The 3rd edition will make a lot of noise! Recall that this festival dedicated to sound, the first of its kind, was driven by the City of Le Mans to highlight its acoustic expertise. "Le Mans sound aims to make Le Mans the capital of sound, to showcase its talents in research, innovation and creation," said Stéphane Le Foll, Mayor of Le Mans, at a press conference organized on Thursday, November 9.
An influence to which a world-renowned artist and pioneer of electronic music has been sensitive. "We have the honor to have as our godfather the musician Jean-Michel Jarre who will inaugurate the 3D sound dome, a world first," announces the mayor.

The French artist who brings together the most spectators around the world is able to reach gauges of 3 million people in a single concert! During the biennial, he will inaugurate the sound dome, the world's first major equipment dedicated to 350m² immersive 3D sound designed for a capacity of 600 people and which will host world premieres.
"I will lead a master class on January 20 in the dome. It will be a moment of exchange with the public that will be followed by the preview of my album Oxymore. The public will be inside the music thanks to optimal 360° conditions to share it, "says Jean-Michel Jarre.
Another good news that confirms the position of Le Mans as the capital of sound: We were selected for the award in October, by the jury of France 2030, to the city of a prize of €100,000 to support our acoustic and sound ecosystem, as part of the call for expressions of interest "Territorial pole of cultural and creative industries", informs Stéphane Le Foll.
Among a hundred appointments scheduled from January 20 to 28, the public will be able to discover a festive sound street, sound installations throughout the city, performances and unprecedented shows.
Many artists and personalities will be present: Jeff Mills, Christina Kubisch, Stephen O'Malley, Ruben Dhers, Peter Vogel, Thierry Balasse, Fabrizio Rat, Isabel Sörling and Linda Oláh, Julie Rousse... This exceptional program was concocted by the collective of partner structures (Les Quinconces-L'Espal, Superforma, Esad-Talm, Le Mans University, the acoustics laboratory, Itemm and CTTM...). Another privileged media partner: Radio France, which will mobilize to relay the event on its airwaves and will launch an international competition in sound design to compete for the sound of the 2024 Olympic Games. The highlight is that access is free to most events.
"We can be proud in Le Mans," says artist Jean-Michel Jarre. "Especially since the city is known worldwide for the 24 Hours race, which already makes a lot of noise literally and figuratively".
