Sessions 2000 Famous Artwork: Mark Rothko

Don't know if this has been discussed but the cover art for Sessions 2000 bears a striking resemblance to the work of the famous American Painter Mark Rothko (circa 1950):
Perhaps the designer for the cover of the CD "borrowed" some ideas. So post-modern of them.

Well if you do some research he is pretty revered in the art world. I guess beauty is in the eye of the beholder. David Lynch counts him as a big influence as do others.

I like the artwork for Sessions, honestly...
I think it's indeed very similar to the artwork of the painter you mentioned, but it was designed by a paris based company called Green Peach

Nah, I quite like the S2K artwork, but only really as album art.

Isn't all artwork filtered images of something else,nothing in Art is ever original and pure the artist has always been inspired by something else.
Take a look at all works of art,Music included everyone is a remix or inspiration of someone/Something else...

I don't understand art but some people can be known for simple paintings like this.
At first I thought the first painting was the Sessions 2000 image. Was it the same person who painted the Sessions 2000 cover?

Wow beautiful colors but not that impressive art indeed. But to be able to put together nice colors in this way can be tricky I guess.
